Description
Vallein Tercinier Brut de Fût Lot 96 Single Cask Cognac
Vallein Tercinier Brut de Fût Lot 96 Single Cask is an exuberant Fins Bois Cognac offering a variety of zesty aromas that evolve together in harmony. As a limited edition release only 435 bottles have been bottled in 2021 making it all the more exclusive and sought-after. This very old single cask Lot 96 Cognac was aged in a French oak cask where it reaped the benefits of the precious time it spent absorbing the minerals and tannins of the wood. Characterized by dominant nuances of violet (typical of Fins Bois Cognacs), sweet and fruity notes of jasmine, exotic fruits, English cake and candied apricots come to life on the nose. Such sweet aromas are contrasted with punchy notes of Timut pepper, liquorice and lemon that swim across the palate before revealing delicate hints of honey, chestnuts and toasted bread. A truly tantalizing treat for those who can appreciate complex aromatics in Cognac.
The Vallein Tercinier Cognac house has been operating since 1850 and has amassed five generations worth of knowledge surrounding fine-tuned Cognac production. Located in the Saintonge region, this brand now has an extensive collection of Cognacs that shines a spotlight on the family's impressive cellar of eaux-de-vie.
Please note: There have been two bottlings of this Fins Bois Lot 96. The first one was made in June 2021 for 435 bottles from barrel 138 (the product image shows the first bottling). The second bottling was done in November 2021 for 614 bottles from barrel 134. Both bottlings have the same alcohol content and very similar characteristics. The only difference is that the eaux-de-vie from the second bottling has been aged for five more months.
Presentation of the bottle
Vallein Tercinier Brut de Fût Lot 96 Single Cask Cognac arrives in a classic bottle, with the brand’s gold embellished logo stamped on the front of the labelling which presents a simple cream backdrop for the logo and product details. You’ll be sure to want to put this in a place for all to see.
How to enjoy
This Tres Vieux Cognac is best sipped neat at room temperature. Add a few ice cubes to the glass if you’re a more adventurous Cognac drinker as this will alter the tasting experience ever so slightly. Enjoy as the complex array of aromas evolve throughout the tasting one sip at a time. Pair with a fine cigar of your choice to take the tasting up a level.

Delicious
A cognac full of fruits. First note is peach, then exotic fruits, citrus, lemon. Gentle woodiness at the back. More floral notes come out with few drops of water + something toasted. Every time I smell the glass I get different dimension and flavors that I can't fully define. This is definitely a...
Young but already great
A rather young cognac, only 25 years. Still feels very mature and balanced. Fruit forward, especially the finish brings some exciting excotic fruits. I had this as a part of the advent calendar and decided to get a full bottle. Therefore, recommended.
Very elegant on the nose
This is the first time I taste this cognac. It is very delicate on the nose. It offers rich fruit notes, and also some floral notes. In addition, I find some darker notes from various spices. It is very enjoyable on the nose, you can spend a lot of time just smelling it. In the mouth it offers spice...
Great Fins Bois Cognac: VT Brut de Fût Lot 96
Tasted from a sample of the Advent Calendar: Deep amber colour. Aromatic, complex nose on sweet candied citrus fruits, yellow plums and oranges. On the palate this cognac is oily and mouthfilling on sweet exotic fruits, spices and fine wood. The finish is long on sweet oranges and exotic fruits...
Delicate and Exciting Cognac
Taste it slowly alone at home, a cup of delicious wine that makes your nose very delicate and stimulating. The fragrance of flowers and fruits keeps emerging, and indescribable fragrances emerge endlessly. The taste is rich, with violet, pepper, licorice, and lemon. In the aftertaste, a faint...
Brut de Fut Lot 96 Single Cask
Eye: Deep amber. As I coat the glass walls, this seems to be the thickest and fullest of the bunch. Nose: The chiseled fruits are back but now they are fatter, denser and seem to ooze out of the glass. I smell apricots, ripe melons, plums, and sweet candied citrus. Something about the nose carries...
About Vallein Tercinier Cognac
With over 500 years of history, the artisan house of Vallein Tercinier is one that deserves the attention of all Cognac lovers – from those new to eaux-de-vie to the connoisseur. This brother and sister team bring an expertise to craft Cognac that's just aching to be discovered.
Many of their Cognac's have been awarded top class awards in many industry competitions, and this has meant a growing awareness of their products in some quarters. But, as with the aging process of Cognac, such a small craft brand is often lost amongst the noise razzmatazz of the 'big boys'. And that really is a crime, because as many esteemed connoiseurs are finding out, the offerings of Vallein Tercinier are of superb quality, unique, and once you've discovered them, will become a 'must have' brand to always have in your drinks cabinet.
Catherine and Louis are very proud to have stepped into the shoes of their many ancestors. And as is in keeping with family tradition, the've continued to move the company forward, whilst remaining true to the pure art of Cognac production. They've adapted the facilities to take full advantage of modern technology, and continue to produce some very special Cognacs indeed.
