Description
Meukow Icone 150th Anniversary Cognac
Meukow Icone is the special and unique blend created in 2012 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Meukow House, which can trace its origins to 1862. Striking a blissful balance between elegance and roundness, it's a Cognac delight perfect for special occasions.
The Meukow House was founded in the 19th century. In 1850, Auguste-Christophe and Gustav Meukow, two brothers from Silesia, were sent to France by Tsar Alexander II of Russia with orders to secure the supply of Cognac for the Court. After several voyages, they decided to set up a commercial office in the town of Cognac and founded the A.C. Meukow & Co. House on 1 August 1862. Managed under the influence of illustrious shareholders such as Henri Bouraud, who was Mayor of Cognac from 1849 to 1869, the company grew rapidly from the very beginning as evidenced by the prestigious events held around the world. Today Meukow is distributed in more than 80 countries and is fronted by Philippe Coste, son of Michel, supported by his two sisters, Marie-Laure Brugerolle and Céline Viard who manages the business.
Presentation of the bottle
Housed in the company's trademark bottle with a leaping panther moulded on to the glass. The form of the bottle is curvaceous and almost shaped like a cloud. Its bold and memorable presentation brands Maison Meukow with a stand-out image that allows its Cognacs to be easily identified at the bar.
The story behind Meakow’s infamous branding:
With the aim of reinforcing the unique identity of Meukow, Michel Coste searched for a symbol that would evoke the exceptional qualities of the Cognac and differentiate it from other brands. The Feline bottle, adorned with the panther, which became the icon of the Meukow brand, was created in 1993. This magnificent creature perfectly symbolises the power, elegance, and suppleness that are the intrinsic qualities of Meukow Cognacs. Awarded “Pack d’Or” twice by the National Institute of Design and Packaging, the Feline bottle is widely recognised as being evocative of quality and desirability.
How to enjoy
This perfectly well-balanced Cognac will be particularly appreciated straight at room temperature, or chilled and on the rocks.
About Meukow Cognac
As the name suggests, Cognac Meukow is one of the few Russian Cognac brands in the Charente region. In 1862 two brothers were sent over to France to supply the Tsar with Cognac and decided to start their own Cognac distillery.
The brand has become known as the “jaguar liquor”, or the “panther liquor”, thanks to its distinctive bottle design. The big cat in question is in fact a puma, and today, with its famous logo, ranks among the most well-known Cognac brands in the world. Its qualities are strength, elegance, sensuality and exotism, the character traits of the puma.
The distillery is housed in Matha in the Charente Maritime, and are particularly celebrated for their VS Cognac, Vanilla Cognac liqueur and 90-Proof Liquor among many others.
