Description
Hennessy VSOP Privilege Cognac with Guangyu Zhang
To celebrate the 2019 Chinese Lunar New Year, Hennessy Cognac have collaborated with emerging Chinese artist, Guangyu Zhang to create the design for the Hennessy VSOP Privilege Limited Edition. Commissioned by Hennessy to bring in the Year of the Pig, it is an incredible digital collage symbolizing the cyclical nature of life and all that is celebrated during Chinese New Year. Adorned with different symbols representing heaven and earth, alongside past and present, it is a multidimensional work of art. The circles within the work represent fulfillment and completion, and the two other circles surrounding represent the famous double distillation process at Hennessy. Zhang is the perfect figure to bridge East and West through a collaboration for the Chinese New Year 2019 Hennessy Cognac.
At least 4 years old, the Hennessy Very Superior Old Pale Cognac is aged in Limousin oak casks, and blended effortlessly by Hennessy's Masters blenders who harness generations of heritage and savoir-faire.
The work of art is a mystical collaboration in which Zhang has translated the feeling that he finds in Hennessy Cognac by blending colors of rich red to match the decadent bottle, and also to express sentiments of happiness and fortune found at this time of year. Look a little closer and you will notice the intricacy of each and every symbol: a ship navigating across a lake bearing the gift of Hennessy VSOP Privilege Cognac, alongside an image of a boar to represent the Year of the Pig, a Chinese lantern, vines, and a Cognac barrel.
Originally from Shanghai, Zhang has held a number of exhibitions across Hong Kong, China and the UK. He believes that his world and where he grew up has its parallels with that of Hennessy Cognac: the ancient nature of Chinese culture and tradition has been created much like the eight generations of master blenders of Cognac.
Hennessy' commissioned artist: Guangyu Zhang
Born in Shanghai, he gained a diploma in art and design from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, going on to graduate from the Central Saint Martins College in London in 2012.

About Hennessy Cognac
You may think, that with Hennessy’s ability to innovate and push boundaries, they are a thoroughly ‘modern’ Cognac brand. This is a large part of their immense success and influence. The very French brand based in the Charente region, in fact, dates all the way back to 1765 - to Ireland - but have managed to shapeshift enough times to remain more relevant than ever before - with current Master Blender Renaud Fillioux. Their range of uber-trendy products is ever expanding, and their marketing campaigns all the more captivating. There is no doubt that ‘Henny’ culture is alive and kicking: both Cognac and a fifth of Hennessy are mentioned in what seems like hundreds of songs.
