Description
Hennessy 8 Cognac: a New Generation
The tradition between the Fillioux family and Hennessy goes back to the year 1800, when James Hennessy named Jean Fillioux as the cellar master. Seven generations and 250 years later, it will be Renaud de Gironde who will be the new top person at Hennessy. After 14 years in the house’s tasting committee, Renaud takes over from his uncle Yann Fillioux who will retire from the role as gatekeeper of Hennessy’s blends.
To honor the arrival of this new generation, Hennessy 8 Cognac has been crafted in memory of the exchange of keys. Paying tribute to the line of cellar masters of the house, this bottle represents 250 years of savoir-faire and the passing of knowledge through the generations.
This extraordinary blend consists of eight carefully selected eaux-de-vie: seven of them have been selected by Yann Fillioux, combined with a final component selected by Renaud de Gironde. Rarely, if ever, does a single Cognac reflect so much history while also looking towards the future. As Yann himself said, “Nobody else has the ability to make such a blend.”
Presentation of the Decanter
Hennessy 8 is presented in a gorgeous Baccarat decanter that features eight rings of crystal, with a charming stopper showing engraved floral motifs. Arik Levy designed the bottle, with the renowned artist having the difficult task of honoring 250 years of history in the most unique way possible. The decanter is presented in a precious trunk made from 25 layers of wood, with each decanter and box numbered and signed by Levy himself. Fully customized, the trunk features four tasting glasses designed exclusively for Hennessy 8 by Georg Riedel and Yann Fillioux, a modern take on the original that was produced more than 30 years ago.
Of course, a signed certificate of authenticity is included in the package. Only 250 decanters have been created for this release, making it a very exclusive Cognac to own.

Asset or liability?.....The answer after 5 weeks ownership
Quite exquisite actually, although is a tad rough around the edges for my taste. Having drank 25% of my Hennessey 8 over the last 5 weeks, I can't shake the feeling of a slight "im over it" moment.Like the optimism, media, and anticipation of the final product before my eyes got the best of me. About Hennessy Cognac
You may think, that with Hennessy’s ability to innovate and push boundaries, they are a thoroughly ‘modern’ Cognac brand. This is a large part of their immense success and influence. The very French brand based in the Charente region, in fact, dates all the way back to 1765 - to Ireland - but have managed to shapeshift enough times to remain more relevant than ever before - with current Master Blender Renaud Fillioux. Their range of uber-trendy products is ever expanding, and their marketing campaigns all the more captivating. There is no doubt that ‘Henny’ culture is alive and kicking: both Cognac and a fifth of Hennessy are mentioned in what seems like hundreds of songs.
