ナヴァラは誰もが知る生産者だが、それには理由がある。 ナヴァラ ブリュット・ド・フュット・ヴィエイユ・レゼルヴ・グランド・シャンパーニュ・コニャックは、まさに熟練の技。樹齢35年から50年のプルミエ・クリュのオー・ド・ヴィをブレンドしたこのコニャックは、他のコニャックとは異なる特殊なプロセスを経ている。樽出しそのままの味わいである。
ジャッキー・ナヴァラは4代目の蒸留者で、ゴンドヴィルにある11エーカーの土地でブドウを栽培している。彼は蒸留の達人であり、水を一切使わず、単に自然蒸発によってコニャックが減少するのを待つだけである。
このヴィエイユ・レゼルヴはグランド・シャンパーニュのもので、30hlのシャラント・ポットスティルで蒸留されている。職人技の極みである。ブレンドは1965年の樽が約10％、1970-1975年の樽が約40％、1978-1979年の樽が約50％である。これぞコニャックの実力である。
ナヴァラは最後の純粋主義者の一人で、樽は彼のセラーの湿度だけで酸化する。自然に任せることで、彼はグランド・シャンパーニュ・ヴィエイユ・レゼルヴのような、驚くほど深みのあるアロマと紛れもないランシオを持つコニャックを造り出している。
