説明
Christian Drouin Millésime 1978 Calvados
The Christian Drouin Millésime 1978 Calvados is a single-vintage Calvados distilled from the 1978 harvest by Calvados Christian Drouin in Coudray-Rabut, Normandy. Three generations of the Drouin family have built their reputation on Appellation Calvados Contrôlée, drawing on more than thirty cider-apple varieties grown in their Pays d'Auge orchards. You can learn more about Calvados and how it sits among the great French brandies in our guide to the types of brandy.
This vintage was aged in traditional Calvados casks before bottling at 40% vol, a slow maturation that concentrates the orchard fruit and builds the rancio that defines old Drouin millesimes.
Bottled as a dated millesime, it is a collector's pour for lovers of aged Normandy spirits and a fine gift for a birth-year or anniversary celebration.
Presentation of the bottle
The bottle carries the white Les Millésimés de Christian Drouin label beneath the embossed copper medallion of the house, with its lion crest and Coudray-Rabut address. A copper-framed black plaque below reads Calvados and Appellation Calvados Contrôlée, states the simple maturation in oak casks and marks the 1978 vintage. A black capsule with a copper Christian Drouin neck band closes the bottle. A 70cl format at 42% vol. Each bottle is delivered in the house's wooden arch case, signed Christian Drouin.
How to drink
Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass to open the aromatics. It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, aged cheese, or a Normandy apple tart, and rounds off a meal as a digestif.
