Eye: Tawny with reflections of amber.

Nose: Complex, featuring notes of saffron, nutmeg, grapefruit and apricot. Rich florals, reminiscent of stepping into a florist.

Palate: Texture and complexity abound; the florals are replaced by caramel, quince jelly, ground ginger and tobacco leaf. The finish is neither overtly woody nor spicy, but consistently elegant.

Description

Remi Landier Très Vieux Fins Bois Cognac

The Remi Landier Tres Vieux Fins Bois Cognac is, as the name suggests, made purely from grapes grown in the unique soils of the Fins Bois terroir. As with all of the Cognacs from this house, it's a product created solely from their family-owned vineyards. Composed only from eaux-de-vie distilled by Remi Landier himself over four decades ago, this is an expression that has been produced in the finest traditions of the region.

Rich and elegant, it’s an Hors d’Age Cognac that demonstrates Landier’s skill as a master of his trade. That very small harvest of one particular year made a batch of extremely rare eaux-de-vie; the seasonal difficulties affected the yield, and it was impossible to predict before distillation the quality of the liquid that would flow from the still. Realizing how unique the year’s distillation was, Landier kept part of it aside to mature further. His sons Alain and Jean-Yves continued his work until releasing it. Since then, they choose to only sell a few bottles per year.

Realizing the uniqueness of their terroir and their eaux-de-vie, Remi Landier and his sons created their eponymous brand of Cognac in 1973. Most of the liquid produced here is sent to some of the largest trading houses in Cognac, which means only a small quantity is bottled under the family’s own label. For this reason, Remi Landier has long been appreciated among connoisseurs. Today, Jean-Yves and Geraldine, the fourth and fifth generation of producers, offer a full range of Cognacs as well as Pineaux des Charentes.

Presentation of the Bottle

Tasteful, stylish and timeless. The bottle is left undisturbed by a label, instead opting for a tag tied around the neck and thin copper wire surrounding the glass, complemented by the gold wax on the neck. The accompanying box of polished wood perfectly finishes the presentation.

How to Enjoy Remi Landier Très Vieux Fins Bois Cognac

We recommend saving this rare Cognac to celebrate a special moment. Regardless of when you choose to drink it, we suggest sipping it slowly from a tulip glass, potentially adding a few drops of water to further open up the palate.
