Description
Jean Blais’s Legacy Lives on in Pasquet’s Tribute Cognac
The Pasquet “L’esprit de famille” Jean is a Grande Champagne Cognac blend of 1969 and 1977 eaux-de-vie from Jean Blais, who was a fellow vintner and distiller, as well as a neighbor of the Pasquet estate. As with every Cognac in their series of tributes to revered members of the Cognac community, this offering is close to Pasquet’s heart.
A friend and neighbor, Jean Blais took Jean-Luc Pasquet under his wing to share with him the ancestral secrets of Cognac production, meaning this bottle brings the two families together just as they were previously. And that’s not all– both families also come from outside of Eraville, so their family history, both within Cognac and outside of it, is rich and shared.
This Cognac, made from a blend of two vintages, is full of character. Pasquet "L´Esprit de Famille" Jean Cognac is introduced in a slim, classic bottle with a ruby red seal that cleverly complements the copper and amber hues of the beverage. The baby blue labeling denotes the artisanal craft of the house behind it, and it was created in tandem with the Pasquet Bernadette Cognac– another tribute to a close family friend.
On the nose, Pasquet "L’Esprit de Famille" Jean Cognac is slow to arrive; once it does, expect sweet, festive notes of ginger cookie, fig bread, anise, praline and vanilla. Then on the palate comes full-bodied flavors of spice and a dry fruitiness. Dried fruits bring a tanginess while sweetness sticks around with the taste of biscuit, a hint of white pepper sitting alongside. The end notes are made up of walnut and black pepper, with a long, warming finish.
A beautiful blend with a vintage feel, this tribute from Pasquet to Blais is a wonderful Cognac to get close to.

About Pasquet Cognac
Certified organic Cognac house Pasquet perfectly strikes the balance between the warmth of family tradition and innovative savoir-faire. In order to revive a plot of vines during the 1990s, the Pasquet family reached deep into their ancestral history to rediscover its organic farming methods. It was here that they found a beautiful equilibrium not only in the ecosystem of their vines, but also in the Cognacs themselves. Since being awarded ‘Agriculture Biologique’ status in 1998, they haven’t looked back, continuing to craft small-batch Cognacs that epitomize natural beauty and balance. With versatile ranges such as ‘L’Organic’ and ‘Esprit de la Famille,’ the Pasquet family ensures that every step of production respects the environment, resulting in a very special collection of Cognacs.
