Growth area & soil: Grande Champagne
An 'Impérial' Blend aged for 50 years from the Grande Champagne
Jacky Navarre, a magician among the Cognac producers, has stunned the region with his ability to create artisanal bottles such as the Navarre Souvenir Impérial Hors d’Age Grande Champagne Cognac.
It is fruity, multifaceted and complex from beginning to end. Aged for half a century, this Hors d’Age is an ‘Imperial’ example of Jacky’s ability to produce Cognac blends from the Grande Champagne. It has undergone a process unlike most: non-chill filtered, nor colored or boiséd with wooden chips.v It is, just as it was meant to be - straight from the barrel.
Not only does he produce fantastic Cognacs straight from the barrel, but he is also a master blender. Jacky Navarre is a fourth-generation distiller and grows grapes on his eleven-acre estate in Gondeville. He is a master of distillation, and uses no water - he simply allows his Cognacs to reduce by natural evaporation.
The Souvenir Cognac has been distilled in his 30hl Charentais pot still. Navarre is one of the last purists of his kind, and the barrels are oxidized by the humidity of his cellar alone. Allowing nature to do the work, he produces Cognacs with an incredible depth of aromas and undeniable rancio.
Presentation of the bottle

How to enjoy
Cognac can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, but considering the age and production process of the Souvenir Cognac, we recommend enjoying it neat, at room temperature in a snifter glass.
Impressive, especially given its value for money
First time using Cognac Expert's standard to judge. FYI, if based on Whisky Base's standard that I'm used to, this bottle would be a solid 92. Leave some time for it to breathe and develop. While writing this review, it has been opened & parafilmed for 3 months. Patience is definitely necessary...
Old vs new
It is hard to evaluate on stand alone, after several tastings vs 4 other cognacs, it is easiest to identify by smell and aftertaste. After having experience with Delamain lineup (4+ ) i can call Navarre take very different to Tres venerable (i like old cognacs) having similar age in mind Delamain...
Outstanding fruity Cognac
Navarre Souvenir Impérial Hors d'Age is 50YR old and produced from 100% Grande Champagne. Lovely fruit greets the nose, especially at the rim. A lovely bouquet of stone and exotic fruits, especially for this age. As it opens more, subtle spice appears, but it’s all about the fruits. The palate...
This cognac is not for the faint-hearted. It’s a massive, distinctive cognac made in an idiosyncratic style. The main characteristic for me is how long it lingers. I discerned less ‘fruit’ than other reviewers (my fault, I’m sure) but everything else was in abundance: the spice, the flowery...
ORGASM NIRVANA CONGAC
this cognac is an orgasm inside of it the flavor of this cognac is unlike any other it is very fruit heavy very exotic fruits the main fruit is guava and this drink is very potent so all you need is 2 tablespoons and you get the affects to pair it with a cuban cigar for around 20 dollars is unlike...
So much Guava you'll forget where you are.....
When I first tasted this Cognac I couldn't believe how prevalent the guava flavor was. It's absolutely astounding how forward it comes out, I've never had a cognac that's reached such a point where rancio goes as tropical as this one. Even at just a scent of the cognac you will get sweet mango & papaya...
About Navarre Cognac
You could consider Jacky Navarre, fourth generation distiller of Cognac Navarre, to be one of the last remaining “purists” of his kind. Distilling from the eleven-acre estate in Gondeville of the Grande Champagne, he hand-harvests his fruit - a true artisanal method that is nowadays rare to find. This ancient Cognac house crafts truly traditional Cognac, with an average of 40-50 years for one blend alone. Amazingly, the Cognacs that emerge from this house have no water added - the barrels are oxidized over a long period by the humidity of the cellar alone. The result is a Cognac of unrivaled quality, aroma and depth. His rule is simple - “let nature do most of the work” and the rest will come.
