Description
Transcending time: the Barrique 89 from Michel Forgeron’s limited edition “Barrique” collection
Perhaps the shining star of the entire “Barrique” collection (despite being the “middle child” in terms of its age), the Michel Forgeron Barrique 89 transcends beyond its single vintage, becoming a powerful and popular Cognac that is, in fact, Hors d’Age.
Using high quality Ugni Blanc grapes harvested in the year 1989, this limited edition Cognac was produced at the Michel Forgeron vineyard located in Grande Champagne, the most prestigious region in Cognac production.
The Cognac has been left untouched in the sublime cellars of the Michel Forgeron Domaine in order to naturally develop its 58% ABV, ageing for almost 25 years to give it a distinct and powerful aroma and taste profile.
The Forgeron family firmly established their roots in the Grande Champagne region in 1909. Now ran by the fourth generation, the two Forgeron brothers deal with the commercial and agricultural sides of the business respectively. The vineyard itself stretches across 24 hectares, growing mostly Ugni-Blanc grapes for their production of top-of-the-range eaux-de-vie.
This Cognac is ideal to share amongst friends, perhaps to celebrate an anniversary or the birthday of someone born in 1989. Its superior quality, noble provenance and powerful flavors are a great talking point at any dinner party.
How to Enjoy
Its unique flavor combination make it the perfect post dinner or evening tipple. Why not enjoy alongside a rich, dark chocolate (80% cocoa or more)? The bitter qualities in the chocolate effortlessly accompany the sweet and fruity notes produced by the Cognac.
Presentation of the Bottle
Slim, elegant and with a typically “Forgeron” shape, this bottle is both old fashioned yet modern, traditional yet timeless, its visible cork is a reminder of the artisanal craftsmanship that has been applied by the Forgeron master blenders. The bottle also comes with a stunning presentation box for gifting or display purposes.

Lovely Spice Bomb
100% Grande Champagne. Wow, this is a spice bomb on the nose, as in baking spices, along with some fruit. More spices on the palate, with the fruit being secondary. The finish is long, with some oak spice present. This is a rare cask strength and Vintage Cognac at 58%, and it is big and bold!...
About Michel Forgeron
Michel Forgeron Cognac’s uniqueness lies in its very special history, its environmental concern and of course in its quest for quality. With a relatively young history, the first cognac under the brand Michel Forgeron was produced in 1977. Their philosophy remains the same as his grandfather’s, who bought the agricultural property at the turn of the century: work better, produce better. Recently, for its hundred year anniversary, Forgeron covered one of the estate’s roofs with solar panels in order to work with sustainable energies for the cognac production.
