Michel Forgeron Barrique 1960 Cognac: a Rare Cask-Strength Vintage
Michel Forgeron Barrique 1960 Cognac is an outstanding single vintage expression, part of the famous 'Barrique' series from the House of Michel Forgeron. This Premier Cru Hors d’Age Cognac has undergone a completely natural maturation process within French oak barrels, preserved deep down in the cave cellars at Michel Forgeron. Aged nearly 60 years, it has reached a natural cask strength of 50% ABV. Currently the oldest of all the Cognacs in this series, this Grande Champagne blend is one that will hold its own at the grandest of occasions.
While its alcohol strength is high, it also allows a sublime balance of flavors to emerge: tell-tale rancio (an unmistakable mark of a mature Cognac), cocoa and tropical fruits create a tasting experience you will not soon forget. This quality vintage is one to reserve for special occasions or to share with those who appreciate the finer things in life.
Michel Forgeron is a close-knit family-run business that values sustainability and an environmentally friendly approach to viticulture. As the sons of Michel Forgeron; Pierre and Christophe excel in embracing the original roots and traditions of the family brand. Meanwhile, they continue to invest in responsible development and are conscious of protecting the terroirs from which they source their wines.
Presentation of the Bottle
Presented in a stylish 50cl bottle and presentation case, this would be a wonderful gift for any Cognac lover. The distinct bottle shape - emblazoned with such a prominent vintage - is sure to stand out in any collection.
How to Enjoy
This outstanding vintage Cognac is one for the tulip glass. The producer has chosen to bottle it at cask strength, allowing the drinker to make a choice between drinking it neat or adding a dash of water to lower the alcohol percentage.
About Michel Forgeron
Michel Forgeron Cognac’s uniqueness lies in its very special history, its environmental concern and of course in its quest for quality. With a relatively young history, the first cognac under the brand Michel Forgeron was produced in 1977. Their philosophy remains the same as his grandfather’s, who bought the agricultural property at the turn of the century: work better, produce better. Recently, for its hundred year anniversary, Forgeron covered one of the estate’s roofs with solar panels in order to work with sustainable energies for the cognac production.
