Description

The Quintessence of Taste

This well-aged blend of eaux-de-vie from Léopold Gourmel is intended to be an outstanding example of 21st century Cognac. The Léopold Gourmel Hors d'Age Quintessence 30 Carats Cognac has been distilled with the lees and matured for over 25 years in fine French oak, followed by another 10 years in a range of other casks. The distinctive blend of this Cognac hasn’t changed since the 19th century, which explains why Nicolas Sinoquet, the Director of Léopold Gourmel, describes Quintessence as “truly a rare and selfish pleasure”.

Gourmel may not be the biggest Cognac producer around, but their attention to detail and creative approach to consumer communication has made them a well-respected name in the world of Cognac. They specialize in using only grapes from the Fins Bois area in Cognac, the region with the oldest subsoil, where grapevines can draw the best resources through roots going down as far as 20-30 meters. The soil here is around 60% clay, retaining moisture and allowing the vines to thrive even during long, hot summers. This is also where the hilliest land of the Cognac region can be found, providing exposure and accelerated ripeness, resulting in eaux-de-vie which are stronger, richer, more aromatic and mineral - a quality which particularly shines in the Hors d'Age Quintessence 30 Carats Cognac.

Significantly, no pesticides, chemicals or additives are used for the production of Gourmel Cognac. There are no tricks or hidden ingredients here - just pure indulgence.

Presentation of the Bottle

The Léopold Gourmel Hors d'Age Quintessence 30 Carats Cognac comes in a modern, square bottle with a solid neck and gold foiling. The substantial presentation box is white with gold details, a fitting package for this luxurious Cognac.

How to Enjoy the Quintessence 30 Carats Cognac

Léopold Gourmel recommends saving this rare Cognac to celebrate a special moment.

Regardless of when you choose to drink it, we suggest sipping it slowly from a tulip glass, potentially adding a few drops of water to open up the palate.

About Leopold Gourmel Cognac

This cognac house has always relied on natural processes. From growing the grapes to picking, maturing, distilling, aging and bottling them, Gourmel cognac is free of any chemicals, pesticides or additives to enhance color in respect of nature and the final product. The philosophy of the company is to concentrate on quality not quantity, which means that one year the outcome may be higher than in others. This is further shown by the radical decision to produce only pure vintage cognacs, so there is no blending of different years in order to create VS, VSOP or XO cognacs for instance. To go with this authentic approach, the design of Gourmel is simple and modern.
