A Grande Champagne “Tresor” Cognac
A very rare, special and well-aged Cognac from the Premier Cru. The Grosperrin "Tresor" N°39 Grande Champagne Cognac is exactly as the name suggests - a real treasure. It comes from a farm located in the Grande Champagne terroir, which is known for producing exceptional Cognacs. Only ten or so bottles were bought from the father’s stock, and the barrels of this precious nectar were stored in the basement of the farm, in clay.
What is it about the Grande Champagne that makes it so spectacular for producing Cognac? The soil is completely unique and unlike anywhere else; the acidity is optimal for Cognac, due to the high chalk content and easy drainage of the soil.
Grosperrin believes that the quality of a Cognac is directly related to the quality of the individual producing and maturing it. By visiting each winegrower and vineyard, hearing the story of the distillery and maturing techniques, he understands the precious nature of a Cognac before even tasting it. Each one of the Cognacs that Grosperrin select and age for the Collection tells its own story - one of older Cognac making techniques, without technology or guaranteed abundant harvests.

About Grosperrin Cognac
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
