Eye: Amber dress.

Nose: On the nose, you can taste the age of this Grande Champagne beauty. It is very lively for its age. A lot of finesse, some taste of tannins. Candied fruits and exotic wood dominate the nose. It is balanced by a rancio, which is delicate yet intense. The nose is pleasant; we can immediately tell that it is a racy Cognac.

Palate: On the palate, the attack is frank, but already very full: sweet tannins, lots of aromas. The finish is dry, very long and without any burn, marked by a persistent note of blackcurrant bud

A Grande Champagne “Tresor” Cognac

Believed to be one of the most remarkable of the Grosperrin cellar, due to its scarcity. The Grosperrin "Tresor" N°34 Grande Champagne Cognac is exactly as the name suggests - a real rare treasure. It has been aged for a very long time in its place of origin, in a large paved cellar.

It has all of the character of a signature Cognac, and is certainly a bottle for collectors. Only three bottles exist of this rare treasure.

What is it about the Grande Champagne that makes it so spectacular for producing Cognac? The soil is completely unique and unlike anywhere else; the acidity is optimal for Cognac, due to the high chalk content and easy drainage of the soil. Grosperrin believes that the quality of a Cognac is directly related to the quality of the individual producing and maturing it. By visiting each winegrower and vineyard, hearing the story of the distillery and maturing techniques, he understands the precious nature of a Cognac before even tasting it. Each one of the Cognacs that Grosperrin selects and ages for the Collection tells its own story - one of older Cognac making techniques, without technology or guaranteed abundant harvests.

Presentation

Bottled at a slightly higher proof of 45,1° ABV, it arrives in a tall bottle and a wooden box.

About Grosperrin Cognac

The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.

Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
