Description
A Single extremely old Borderies Cognac
One part of Jean Grosperrin’s historic Cognac de Collection is the Grosperrin Borderies No.28 Cognac. A very old Cognac, the story behind these casks is particularly fascinating. It was bought from a widow and winemaker in the Borderies region who had been in the village of Burie since 1930. It is a very fine Cognac that descends from a terroir with an exceptional reputation for fine Cognac. With only a few precious hectoliters left, the family heirs today take the greatest care to preserve this unique heritage in the depths of their Paradis cellars. This particular Cognac has a wonderful rancio and harnesses spicy notes of turmeric and candied ginger.
Invite your senses on a journey through the history of this independent Cognac brand. Read more about the unique Borderies terroir here on our blog.
Bottled at 53.8% ABV, the decanter is slim with a look of hand-blown glass, with a wooden stopper. It also arrives in a light colored wooden box. Grosperrin never adds sugar or caramel coloring to their Cognacs.

About Grosperrin Cognac
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
