Description
Fransac Hors d'Age Cognac – 70 Years
This exceptional cognac represents the oldest expression from Maison Fransac. Crafted from eaux-de-vie aged for more than 70 years, this rare blend reflects decades of patient maturation and the expertise of several generations of cellar masters.
The blend is composed of eaux-de-vie originating from three Cognac crus: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois. Each cru contributes its own character to the final composition. Grande Champagne provides finesse and aging potential, Petite Champagne adds balance and aromatic elegance, while Fins Bois contributes roundness and fruit character.
The eaux-de-vie are distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes using traditional Charentais copper pot stills. This double distillation method allows the spirit to retain its aromatic purity while developing structure for long aging.
After distillation, the eaux-de-vie are transferred to oak barrels where they slowly mature in the cool and humid cellars of Maison Fransac in Cognac. Over decades, the interaction between the wood, air and spirit gradually develops extraordinary complexity, depth and smoothness.
The result is a cognac of remarkable balance and refinement, combining maturity with elegance. Time has allowed the aromas to evolve into a rich and layered profile that reveals itself gradually in the glass.
On the nose, this cognac expresses complex and harmonious aromas of dried fig, tobacco and old leather. Subtle earthy notes and hints of nuts add additional depth to the bouquet.
On the palate, the texture is remarkably soft and refined. Flavors of dried fruits unfold gently, supported by delicate oak notes and a subtle spicy character that reflects its long maturation.
The finish is exceptionally long and elegant, marked by deep rancio and lingering notes of leather, tobacco and mature wood.
Maison Fransac
Maison Fransac continues a long tradition of Cognac production initiated by the Roullet family. Located in the historic town of Cognac along the Charente River, the house operates from a historic residence dating back to 1760.
For generations, the house has specialized in selecting and blending eaux-de-vie from the region’s finest vineyards. The cellar masters carefully monitor the maturation of each barrel to ensure the highest quality and balance in every blend.
How to enjoy
This exceptional cognac is best enjoyed slowly at the end of a meal. Serving it neat in a tulip glass allows the aromas to concentrate and gradually reveal their full complexity.
Taking time to appreciate its aromatic evolution allows the depth and elegance developed over decades of aging to fully express themselves.

A Deep Spicy 70-Year-Old with Oak, Leather and Caramel
This 70-year-old is a very mature and complex cognac with a profile that immediately leans into spice, oak and depth. On the nose, the first thing I notice is the wood influence, but it is not aggressive. It feels controlled and well integrated. I get heavy spice, chocolate, leather, almost like an...
