Description
François Voyer Hors d'Age: a Premier Cru Masterpiece
The François Voyer Hors d'Age Coffret Grande Champagne Cognac is a masterpiece of a blend, created with 100% Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie aged between 40 and 60 years. This expression encapsulates the quintessential flavors of the Premier Cru: it is a symphony, a musical score of refined notes, including those of coffee, chocolate, wax, leather, cloves, and cinnamon.
Only the finest high-acidity Ugni Blanc grapes have been used for this blend, lending an exceptional minerality and complex flavor to the resulting eaux-de-vie. French oak barrels from the Limousin, Bercée, Gâvre and Reno Valdieu forests are used for aging Voyer Cognac, housed in both damp and dry cellars to optimise the character of each individual cask. After half a century of waiting, the result is nothing short of exceptional.
The Chauchet-Voyer family have been distilling and aging eaux-de-vie in oak barrels since the 1870s – for over five generations. Focusing on the Grande Champagne cru, they work with numerous winegrowers in the area, as the domaine itself is a small-scale producer with only 28 hectares of land. They are, however, dedicated to maintaining a sustainable agriculture approach to protect biodiversity and public health and was one of the first 20 domains to obtain the High Environmental Value (HEV) certification.
House François Voyer was passed on to Cellar Master Pierre Vaudon to carry on the work of generations and maintain the identity of Voyer Cognac. This decanter is a wonderful homage to the people who came before him, and a glimpse of what the future can bring.
Presentation of the Bottle
This wonderful Hors d’Age expression comes in a remarkable Sèvre crystal bottle. The gentle curves of the glass lead to a gold ribbon around the neck, holding a gold-toned metal tag bearing the François Voyer name. A tall crystal stopper completes the decanter. The art deco-inspired presentation case is sure to take pride of place in any Cognac collection.
How to Enjoy François Voyer Hors d'Age Coffret Grande Champagne Cognac
We recommend to enjoy this Cognac neat at room temperature or with a dash of chilled mineral water, served in a slim tulip glass. Pour it and let it stand for a full 15 minutes before tasting. Sip slowly and let the bouquet and flavors unfold and develop. Taste the passing of the years in the warm cocoon of the ancient oak barrel, and the darkness of the cellar.

An epic journey...
My palate fell in love with this dark, deep dram. Beautifully layered with dark fruit, spice and wood...this is a smooth, complex cognac that demands a solid amount of hand-held attention and warmth before slowly giving up its secrets. A very powerful and intense hand-crafted work of liquid art:...
