Eye: Antique amber.

Nose: Sumptuous aromas of orange marmalade mixed with fresh herbal scents - mint and thyme. Over four decades of aging has given it an aromatic bouquet of great nobility.

Palate: At once, explosive and rich. Bold rancio characteristics eventually settle in with notes of tobacco and leather.

Description

Fanny Fougerat Type 73 Cognac

Comprising a 45-year-old eau-de-vie from the Petite Champagne cru, the Fanny Fougerat Type 73 Cognac is a single cask release. Bottled at a respectable strength of 49.6% ABV, only 510 bottles are available - making it a rare gem to taste. It’s unfiltered and unadulterated, with absolutely no caramel or additives. This release forms part of the Hors-Série collection, each featuring a character on the label who is used to illustrate the character traits of the liquid in the bottle.

Originally from Burie, Fanny Fougerat took over the 30-hectare family estate in 2013. The vineyards stretch across the Borderies and Fins Bois terroirs, all planted with Ugni Blanc grapes. The distillation process takes place in-house, and all their Cognacs are created without additives. Historically the family always sold their eaux-de-vie to the larger houses, but more recently they have created a small range of Cognacs to be marketed under the name of Fanny Fougerat.

Presentation of the Bottle

The modern bottle shape is perfectly complemented by the bold graphic label. The character illustrating the Cognac is wearing an extravagant suit, showing a slick hairstyle and a lit cigarette. As the producer describes her: "you can see this charismatic woman with a sustained gaze, illustrating the 1970s.”

How to Enjoy Fanny Fougerat Type 73 Cognac

This well-aged Petite Champagne Cognac is the perfect accompaniment to any evening, particularly served after a rich dinner, alongside a hot espresso or slice of tiramisu. Of course, it’s also ideal on its own, served in a slim tulip glass at room temperature.

About Fanny Fougerat Cognac

The house of Fanny Fougerat is named after its entrepreneurial creator, a young woman who comes from a long line of winemakers and distillers of Cognac. The brand only came into being a few years ago, with the first bottling of a Cognac to be sold under the Fanny Fougerat brand name being launched in November of 2013. However, the traditions and knowledge of this wine making family stretch back over four generations, during which time they sold their eaux-de-vie to the larger Cognac houses.

Fanny Fougerat Cognac is wonderfully 21st century, yet combined with the passion and knowledge of a truly traditional Cognac family. The resulting artisan products are fresh, vibrant, and of exceptional quality.
