Description
Bertrand Heritage Limited Edition N°2 Cognac
Bertrand Heritage Limited Edition N° 2 Cognac is a 100% Petite Champagne Hors d’Age offering from the long-treasured “Heritage” lot of Simone and Raymond Bertrand, the grandparents of Therese and Samuel who are today’s generation at the Domaine des Brissons de Laage. Simone and Raymond both grew up in the Petite Champagne region of Cognac and separately learned the ways of Cognac production from their families. Simone grew up at the Domaine des Brissons, where her father taught her, while Raymond’s family has been in Reaux since 1731, with a windmill and vines at the Domaine de Laage. So naturally, when Simone and Raymond married in 1948, they combined the two domains into one, forming the Domaine des Brissons de Laage.
The eaux-de-vie produced during the first ten years of Simone and Raymond’s time together at the Domaine was heated on small (8 hectoliters) wood-fired stills that have since been lost to the ages. When they first started working in collaboration, they selected one particular Petite Champagne lot and set it aside in the 1960s to undergo a long and special maturation process in ‘red’ casks. This eau-de-vie was left untouched for more than half a century and stands proud in representing the heritage of Simone and Raymond, passed down to their grandchildren, Therese and Samuel – the current successors of the family brand.
The “Heritage” lot is long recognized by the family as an eau-de-vie of exceptional quality as well as years of patience and acquired know-how. With the first bottling of this treasured eau-de-vie taking place as “500 Heritage Cognac” back in December 2018, Bertrand Heritage Limited Edition N° 2 Cognac is the second bottling of the same Cognac, from the original lot but with three additional years of aging – making it even more special than it was before.
How to enjoy
Boasting such an extensive history and heritage allows this Cognac to stand proud as a truly one-of-a-kind and sought after offering. And with such outstanding quality, alongside an incredibly complex set of tasting notes, it is safe to say it is a Cognac that should be sipped and savored from your best tulip glass – neat at room temperature.

Great Petite Champagne - Bertrand Heritage N°2
The colour is a dark amber with golden reflexes. The nose is deep and complex with dried fuits, delicious pastry notes, old leather and oak. On the palate the higher alcohol is well integrated and the cognac is smooth in your mouth and on your tongue and shows a lot of dried fruits and fine spices. The...
My favorite
Nose: A strong, complex and delicate underlying woody note. The scent then opens up to the delicate scent of candied hazelnuts with orange and nutmeg, in addition to lightly toasted brioche notes with apricot jam and vanilla beans. Palate: An initial note of stewed fruit blossom with a spicy note...
The winner!
Deep golden amber, copper tint at the edges. Woody, fruity, sweet, elegant. Serious, seriously good, complex and rewarding with little indication of the high abv until the finish. Long finish with lingering tastes, a little alcohol burn for a moment. One of my all time favorite cognacs!
One of the best available Petite Champagne
For me this is a special cognac. We discovered the Heritage when visiting the estate back in 2017. We immediate fell in low and begged for it to be released as a product. And our wishes came through. The year after Heritage was launched. Since then I have tasted a new version from Legacy Brandy, and...
