Description
Two Casks, One Masterpiece: Ferrand Renegade Barrel No.1 Brandy
Maison Ferrand has made a name for itself thanks to its exclusive use of Premier Cru terroir wines, and this release is no exception: the chalky soil of the Grande Champagne is particularly famous for producing some of the highest quality eaux-de-vie the region has to offer. Even though the Ferrand Renegade Barrel No.1 Brandy cannot be labelled a Cognac - as it has been partially matured in a Sauternes cask - it bears all the hallmarks of quality you would expect from this famed producer.
The first release in Ferrand’s Renegade Barrel series, this brandy was first matured in a 350-liter Cognac cask, then moved into a 225-liter Sauternes barrel. Aided by the fruity aromas from the Sauternes wine, this eau-de-vie de vin has taken on a brilliant grape note that carries on from start to finish. This limited edition has been bottled at a strength of 48% ABV.
Ferrand in its current form was founded in 1989, when Alexandre Gabriel purchased the family firm and quickly began to improve its profile. For the Ferrand family, now on their fifth generation of Cellar Master, blending is an art form and each expression stands as a masterpiece in its own right.
Presentation of the Bottle
The stunning packaging does not hold back; with its intricate label, gilded details and oversized stopper, this is a bottle that is sure to stand out. Accompanied by a matching gift box, this would be a great bottle to give to anyone who appreciates fine brandies.
How to Enjoy Ferrand Renegade Barrel No.1 Brandy
Providing a round, complex, yet totally balanced drinking experience, this is an eau-de-vie that is equally great on its own as it would be in a well-made classic cocktail. Try serving it neat in tulip glasses at room temperature as a digestif, or over ice as an aperitif.
