Vallein Tercinier XO Vieille Reserve
Very Aged X.O. Nutty-Leather Old Port Winy-Cognac
At the opening - buttery scent of sweet dried fruits. No ethanol spirit smell. Alcohol is integrated into the cognac aroma. In the glass - first 5-7 minutes scent of caramel and the bouquet mix of old port, leather and rancio aromas In the glass - 10-15 minutes matured smell of aged alcohol drink...
Excellent variety of fruits and spice.
I get lots of various fruit flavors and aromas and some spice. I prefer a little less spice, but that's just me. This is pretty typical though. Overall, it's very enjoyable with lots of lingering flavors. Good complexity. Very good cognac for the money.
Exceptional quality and refinement
I first had this cognac while in Switzerland. I could not believe the aroma and refined taste. It has a fruit forward taste with a pleasant smooth finish. I knew I would not be able to find this in the US so I only had this when I really had time to enjoy it. How happy I was that I could get this...
Growth Area: Fine Champagne
Cognac Age: XO Cognac (minimum 35 years old)
The Vallein Tercinier XO Vieille Reserve Cognac is a delectable old blend of eaux-de-vie from the two premier growth areas of the region. It's designated as a Fine Champagne, meaning that a minimum of 50% comes from Grande Champagne, the rest from Petite Champagne. The youngest component in the blend has been aged for at least 35 years, and this has led to an extremely elegant, round, and deliciously mature taste experience. A deserving award winner, this is a great example of why small producers can provide you so much more for your money. One of the most outstanding aspects of this wonderfully old Cognac is its exceptional finish. Multi-faceted, and almost never-ending, it has to be tasted to be truly appreciated.
Bache Gabrielsen Hors d'Age
Outstanding Hors d'Age Cognac
Bache Gabrielsen Hors d'Age is a mix between the Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche grapes. The oldest eaux-de-vie in the blend reaches back all the way to 1917, and the youngest to around 1960. A lovely blend of fruit and spice greets the nose, with more spice than normal in a Cognac. As it opens, that...
One of my favorite Cognacs
An impressive Cognac that starts with a spicy (but for sure not too spicy!) nose, well balanced. In general, this Cognac is not too smooth, but still easily drinkable with a fantastic long aftertaste. It deserved all the awards it has won! Go for it if you haven’t tasted it yet, it’s one of my...
Of all Hors d'age cognacs I have tasted, trist is by far my favourite. I just love it, a bit on the expensive side, but to me it worth it. For some reason though, it seams that it is not to appreciated, my last bottle I bought on auction for 90 euro. I think that this is a must try cognac otherwise...
Like the other reviews I have enjoyed the Bache brand for some time now. This one was special, although its more expensive than in years past, it's still a value. I am tough on my ratings, but this one was exceptional. Not too thin, or thick on the palate. The nose gives you variety of fruity...
A select cognac for select friends
I get a certain sense of excitement every time I bring out the Bache Gabrielsen Hors d’Age. It presents well right out of the box when you are sharing the story and history to those you are about to enjoy it with. The nose is very enjoyable and the taste is long and smooth. I find the combination...
Bache Gabrielsen Hors d'Age Grande Champagne Cognac
I didn't expect to buy Bache Gabrielsen Hors d'Age Grande champagne cognac at such a price. Amazingly, it's packed in beautiful wooden boxes, with Christian Bache Gabrielsen's autograph. It's so affordable.
A moment of satisfaction
I've always been aware of the BACHE brand and have had their 15 and 20 year old XO cognacs, but after drinking this bottle of Hors d'Age Grande Champagne Cognac, I have to say that the BACHE cognacs are really impressive. Upon opening the bottle, the overflowing aromas of fruit, flowers and spices...
A great Hors d'Age that used to be cheaper!
So this Hors d'Age is really a solid one by Bache Gabrielsen.. it used to be a little cheaper but that wasn't really necessary / reasonable. Nutty notes, great nose.. the palate is slightly weaker than the nose, a very solid finish. Value for money: I would have given 5/5 stars with the previous price,...
One of the greatest old cognacs
Bache Gabrielsen Horsdage is a great cognac, and very good value for money (it was even cheaper in the past.. they somehow now upped the price because the demand is so high I assume).. in a beautiful wooden box. The only downer is that the wooden box often gets damaged during transport for a reason.....
Growth Area: Grande Champagne
Cognac Age: Hors d'Age (aged between 50 and 70 years)
The Bache Gabrielsen Hors d’Age is a high-end Cognac from the Grande Champagne terroir, and considered to be the “pièce de résistance” of their selection. It consists of a mix between the Ugni Blanc and of the rare Folle Blanche grape, and is exclusively cultivated in the Grande Champagne growing area. The dark amber liquid mirrors its age; the Hors d’Age is a blend made up of eaux-de-vie that has been aged in Limousin oak barrels between 50 and 70 years. The oak barrels give Cognac its full spice experience, and Bache-Gabrielsen use only the best. The oldest eaux-de-vie in the blend reaches back all the way to 1917, and the youngest to around 1960; this is undeniably reflected in the quality of the blend itself. It is a rich Cognac with plenty to show off about, and comprises the best elements of fine Premier Cru produce, such as its long finish.

Marcillac Vintage 1975 Armagnac
Marcillac Vintage Collection 1975
Nose: Massive! The nose is very buttered and dessert-like - patissier is the word in French. Right off the bat, smells of butterscotch, caramel, toffee, dried red fruits, and vanilla compete for the nose’s attention. The vanilla is not front and center because the other bombastic notes steal the...
The Best So Far
Opening the bottle gives you the fragrance of fruit, it was incredible. The taste is long and powerful for an armangnac. I have tried many, but this is the best so far. Apricot, chocolate, you get it all with this one. You immediately know this is well aged and special. You also get just the...
Armagnac Age: Vintage 1975
Bottle Size: 750ml
Located in the Lot-et-Garonne region near the city of Agen, the Marcillac Armagnac estate dates back to the 12th Century when it was founded by Prémonté monks. The monastery was acquired in 1730 by a wine merchant from Bordeaux who restored it and converted it into a castle, which was fashionable at the time, and focused on developing the vineyard and wines. The current family acquired the estate in the year 1900 and started distilling wine to make Armagnac following the exact same vinification, distillation and aging processes that the monks followed centuries before.
Armagnac Clés des Ducs Trilogie
Sehr guter Cognac
The Armagnac Cles des Ducs Trilogy comes very close to my "reference cognac" Ordonneau Tres Vieille Reserve, it is in the same price segment. Very intense on the nose, mild in the mouth for me a super alternative I will buy again absolutely. Original (German): Der Armagnac Cles des Ducs Trilogie...
I’m rather new to my exploration of exciting world of cognac. I’m confident that no matter where my journey takes me this gem will remain a favorite. The nose is enticing, when left to rest in the mouth it wraps the tongue with tingly blanket of vanilla and fruit. The finish is amazing.
There’s a reason this bottle…
… won best Armagnac in 2018 Nose: Sweet, caramelized banana, vanilla, banana’s foster, butter cream. Little bit of dank, musty rancio note. Has changed significantly from when opened a couple weeks ago when it was much darker, wood and mushroom and walnut. Now I’m having a hard time detecting...
Keep it to myself...
Just the one you don't want to share... From the first moment it was warm and friendly as if waited for me. Loved it neat, away from any dining table or friends to share opinions with. A great correlation between nose and mouth, like you would expect from such a bottle. Happy new year
My New Favourite
I have had the pleasure of drinking many quality Armagnac and have had a favourite that is a 25 years old Bas Armagnac. After receiving this bottle I have a new favourite. The nose, the taste and the finish are all exquisite. The flowers, vanilla, fruit and wood give this Armagnac a complexity rarely...
I still drink relatively little Armagnac brandy, but this bottle was really surprising and very much to our liking. The plum preserves and hundred flowers aromas were very appealing, with a woody, mellow and lubricious finish. Good brandy.
Armagnac Age: Multi-Millésime (1973, 1987, 1999)
Bottle Size: 700ml
Winner of the World’s Best Armagnac Award in 2018, Cles des Ducs Trilogy is an exceptional blend of eaux-de-vie from the respective vintage years of 1987, 1973 and 1999. The cellar master of Cles des Ducs has carefully selected the eaux-de-vie from each decade with care and precision in order to create a blend of outstanding quality and harmony. Inviting tasters to experience its aromas in full maturity, Armagnac Cles des Ducs Trilogy offers complex, long and lingering notes of candied fruit and rancio. The Clés des Ducs Armagnacs come from plots located in the tawny sands, fiery lands located in the heart of Armagnac. Made from Ugni Blanc and old ancestral grape varieties, they reveal a whole tradition of nobility and elegance.
Jean Cavé 28 Ans Armagnac
Very complex palette of smell and taste. As it is a 28 year old armagnac, do not forget to let it breath in your tulip glass for a quarter of an hour (one year of maturation / 30 seconds of aeration). You will be surprised how the smell and taste evolve after this. I usually do this with my cognacs,...
Armagnac Age: 28 Years Old
Bottle Size: 700ml
Wonderfully elegant and easygoing, the Armagnac Jean Cavé 28 Ans Gamme Compte d’Age has been traditionally distilled in a continuous copper still and subsequently aged for a minimum of 28 years in French oak. The wood used for these casks is a particular wide-grained variety found in the Gascon forest, which has been toasted to a medium char to develop rich sweetness and tannins. This type of grain is perfect for creating deep, rich aromas and a generous color in the final product.
