Pierre Ferrand Selection Des Anges Cognac
Appellation (Cru) & sol: Grande Champagne
The Angel’s Selection, a Heavenly Cognac from the Premier Cru
The Maison Ferrand has made a name for itself thanks to its exclusive use of Premier Cru terroir eaux-de-vie, the chalky soil of Grande Champagne is particularly famous for producing some of the highest quality Cognacs the region has to offer.
For the Ferrand family, now on their fifth generation of cellar master, blending is an art form and each Cognac is a masterpiece in its own right. This passion, combined with the high quality ingredients and traditional "on the lees" distillation process, creates something quite magical, heavenly even. It's no wonder that the Pierre Ferrand Selection des Anges Cognac has won so many awards.
Of course, when we talk about Angels in Cognac this is a reference to the ancient term "the Angels share", taken during the long maturation process as the Cognac slowly evaporates over time. As the Angels take their share, flavors are refined and intensified, creating a sublime sensory experience with a higher concentration of aromas the longer the Cognac ages.
This particular selection by Maison Ferrand has an average age of 30 years, meaning the Angels have had their fair share and what's left is a true treat for the senses that will please the palate of even the most discerning Cognac connoisseur.

How to Enjoy:
A 30-year-old Cognac like this should certainly be enjoyed neat, we recommend drinking it in a tulip tasting glass or traditional snifter, a drop of water will accentuate the floral flavors.
Presentation of the Bottle:
A traditional and timeless bottle featuring deep green colored detailing, the earthy color scheme perfectly complements the Cognac's deep mahogany color, and the classic cork stopper adds an authentic feel to this wonderful Grande Champagne selection. The bottle equally comes with a cardboard sleeve for gifting, presentation or storage purposes.
Best cognac for under $200
Discovering and fine tuning your palate with respect to Cognacs as you at the same time match the exciting process with memories is indeed a fascinating venture. Here goes mine. Although rather fine tasting experiences, throughout the years none of the "commercial" brands (comparables under $200.00 of Hennessy, Courvoisier, Remy Martin and Martel) "moved" me. They were rather nice but ordinary, not non plus ultra after dinners. Then Delamain was discovered as it etched its delightful contents with an unforgettable family gathering, an evening shared with my spouse, her parents and three siblings. That very high standard of excellence was set then and there, yet some 30 years ago Delamaine was a very difficult purchase in Puerto Rico: no reputable liquor store had it shelved and available in its capital of San Juan. Unfortunately, my mother in law Ruth (born in Louisiana, her grandparents were French) died some nine years ago. I joined my spouse and a group of my in-laws that traveled to her birthplace for a farewell ash ceremony with her family there. My dear father in law and widower, Juan suggested we visit Martin Liquor Store in New Orleans. Each relative went its own way as we zig-zagged the store with anticipation impressed by the vast variety of wines. I approached the store somelier: I wanted to surprise my father in law with a Delamaine. The kind employee said they did not carry it... and instead suggested, voilá!, we tried Pierre Ferrand and offered me to try two members of the Pierre Ferrand family: Amber, and Selection des Anges. To my surprise he offered a complimentary tasting, an experience I called my father in law to have. Both are above average cognacs, with Selection des Anges setting THE standard of excellence -- in my view -- at this price (under $200). It is a cognac with the gift of an admirable balance between a great woody bouque, great body sensations and a distinct finish that does not offend. Instead, Selection allows for its rich, balanced enjoyment that yearns for one or two more glasses. My father in law Juan affirms that this is the best cognac. I cannot disagree and I fully recommend. Discover, find your palate and allow Selection des Anges to etch in your life a plethora of unforgettable memories.
5 stars all the way
I purchased this bottle on this website and love it. Compared to other cognacs at the same price - you cannot even compare! The 30 years of oak barrel really make a difference, spectacular value for money. One of my favorites (i have about 30 bottles in my cabinet).
À propos de Pierre Ferrand Cognac
The estate of Cognac Pierre Ferrand is located directly in the ‘golden triangle’ of the Grande Champagne region of Cognac and is owned and run by Alexandre Gabriel. Specializing in old and very old cognacs, Pierre Ferrand is only bottled and shipped to order. They have also developed some unique production techniques of their own that are used in the aging and distillation process and have introduced innovative ways of collaborating with smaller scale producers. Both the vineyards and company headquarters are located in the 18th century Château de Bonbonnet at Ars, just 10 kms from the town center of Cognac itself.
