The design aesthetic is second to none in both the decanter and the eaux-de-vie; the result is an award-winning Grande Champagne Cognac made in small batches. It is considered to be an exceptional Cognac for its age. Ultimately, its profile is fruity and sweet like marmalade, with warm hints of roasted cereal and nuts.
This Cognac house favors artisanal quality over producing the same spirit again and again. Philbert Cognac work in harmony with nature and the geological makeup of the soil from the vine to the bottles themselves. Philbert, a Cognac house of two brothers, was the first in the region to use rare cask finishes in re-used Oloroso sherry and Sauternes casks. They took over the family estate in 2006 and introduced innovative new methods. By 2012 they had tripled the area of vineyards.
This time, Pierre-Olivier distills the Distiller Reserve Grande Champagne Cognac is Touzac. Using traditional methods by distilling over lees with the grapes from the Premier Cru, a complex and robust Cognac is the result; one with notes of baked goods and nutty aromas, but firmly well balanced.
The Cognac is proofed at 41.5% ABV, in a whiskey-style 70cl decanter.
