Description
Chateau de Montifaud VSOP Cognac: a Bouquet of Flowers from Petite Champagne
This release comprises a blend of eaux-de-vie from the Petite Champagne growing region. The wines for the Chateau de Montifaud VSOP Cognac have been made exclusively from Ugni Blanc grapes and stored on the lees for 2-3 months before distillation to create a superb, bold character full of grapevine and fruit flavors.
New oak casks are used for the first year of maturation, after which the eaux-de-vie are transferred into old oak (4-15 years old) for the remaining ageing time. The total process can take up to ten years - much longer than the four-year minimum required for a VSOP. With such an extraordinary suppleness and delicacy on the palate complemented by sweet hints of pear and apricot, we say this Cognac is worth the wait.
The Vallet family have been the guardians of Château de Montifaud Cognac for six generations and are today responsible for 125 hectares of vineyards across the Grande and Petite Champagne regions. Specializing in traditional production methods, the family chooses to distil only Ugni Blanc grapes and always aim to age their Cognacs significantly longer than required by law.
Presentation of the Bottle
The tall, straight bottle features a heavy glass base and gold foil for a touch of luxury. The oval cream-colored label has a vintage look, contrasting with the otherwise modern design. A matching presentation tube finishes off the package, making this a great gift for any Cognac lover.
How to Enjoy Chateau de Montifaud VSOP Cognac
This lively and floral VSOP is great before dinner as well as after. Serve neat in tulip glasses at room temperature as a digestif, or over ice as an aperitif. Great for garden parties, summer wedding receptions or just to enjoy on a balcony late into the evening.
À propos de Château de Montifaud
Owned by the family Vallet for six generations, Chateau de Montifaud Cognac boasts 125 hectares of vineyards that are located in both the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne growing regions. The house produces a large, high quality range of cognacs – including various vintages from years that have had an exceptional harvest. One family tradition that Cognac Chateau Montifaud is proud to follow, is that of when a new baby boy is born to the head of the cognac house, that part of the cognac created from that year’s harvest is set to one side. This is kept for a varying number of years, but may only be sold by future generations.
