Ragnaud Sabourin 1989 Vintage Millesime Cognac: Everlasting Sunshine
Produced entirely from Grande Champagne Ugni Blanc grapes and matured for at least two decades, Ragnaud Sabourin 1989 Vintage Millesime Cognac shows a wonderful balance of fruit and finesse. Like all Cognacs from this esteemed house, the grapes for this expression were harvested on the Domaine de la Voute vineyard, making it a single estate bottling. The 1989 harvest enjoyed ideal growing conditions: a hot, dry summer with plenty of sunshine that produced an astounding crop of ripe, healthy grapes. As a result, this is a vintage highly regarded for its forward, fleshy and seductive flavors.
The Ragnaud-Sabourin estate was founded in 1850 by Gaston Briand and his son-in-law Marcel Ragnaud. Today, Annie Ragnaud-Sabourin and her son Olivier carry on the family expertise, focusing exclusively on eaux-de-vie produced from their own vines. Sitting on a hill outside the village of Ambleville in the south of Grande Champagne, this wonderful estate may be small, but it is also one of the most prominent houses in Cognac, selling fine eaux-de-vie to a range of larger companies. However, they always make sure to keep the majority for themselves, which is why the House of Ragnaud-Sabourin boasts unusually large stocks of old Cognac - some of which predate the phylloxera epidemic. As a result, they are able to offer a wide selection of high-end releases.
Few houses dedicate themselves to such a long-term view on their production, but the Ragnaud-Sabourin family know how to plan ahead. The present stocks kept in their cellars represent around fifteen years of future sales - a long-term investment, but always worth the wait.
Presentation of the Bottle

How to Enjoy
Sit back and relax; this is one to take your time with, perfect to end a meal or a long day. Gently let the Cognac breathe in a tulip glass before taking a sip - it’s a taste of sunny days gone by.
Delectable vintage cognac
A treat for myself! I was born in '89 so having a bottle from that year to celebrate my annual trip around the sun was a must. Thanks to the customer service of Cognac-Expert I was guided towards this delicious vintage cognac. The nose is excellent, sweet, plenty of honey but not overly so with a swirl of vanilla. The taste is well balanced with, again, the honey coming through but that vanilla really warming it up at the end and rounding it out in a caramelized way. The mouthfeel is wonderful like a warm syrup gliding across the tongue. The aftertaste is where the fruit notes really shone for me and it lasted quite long. Truly a wonderful experience and cognac to take your time with. Highly recommended!
