Description

Camus Vintage Pionneau Cognac: a Glorious 1969 Vintage From a Long-Lost Cognac House

The Camus Vintage Pionneau Cognac is a pure vintage Cognac from 1969 - and a wonderful representation of the smallest of the Cognac terroirs. This exceptional release is the result of a single harvest in the Saint Maigrin region, created by a bouilleur de cru. The eaux-de-vie for this vintage originally came from the House of Pionneau, which the family-owned Cognac house Camus took over in the 1960s. Bottled at a cask strength of 56.4% and without any additives, it shows power and complexity on the nose and a rich palate full of rancio. This is surely a delight for those who enjoy mature Cognacs, or indeed anyone with an appreciation for vintage spirits.

One thing any Cognac connoisseur will make note of is the unique flavor that eaux-de-vie from the Borderies express.  The soil here exerts a unique character on the grapes grown across its chalky hills - many people will be pleasantly surprised by the notes of lavender on both the nose and palate. Not only is this a superb Cognac from an excellent harvest, but it is also one that will hold up to the great releases from neighboring vineyards in Grande and Petite Champagne.

The edition of this 35-year-old Cognac counts only 4848 numbered and individually signed decanters.

Presentation of the Bottle

The classic Camus bottle shape is complemented beautifully by an intricately designed label and silver foil on the neck. The product details, including an individual bottle number, has been written by hand on the label for a personal touch. We think this would make the perfect gift for anyone celebrating a 1969 birthday or special event.

How to Enjoy Camus Vintage Pionneau Camus Cognac

This is a rare Cognac to celebrate special moments. Regardless of when you choose to drink it, we suggest sipping it slowly from a tulip glass, potentially adding a dash of water to lower the alcohol volume and open up the palate.
