Appellation (Cru) & sol: Borderies
Héritage René Rivière Tres Vielle Reserve Cognac
The Héritage René Rivière Tres Vieille Reserve Cognac comprises a wonderful blend of eaux-de-vie that are unmistakably from the Borderies growing area of Cognac. Full of character, taste and intrigue, this Cognac shows just how unique this cru is; one thing any Cognac connoisseur will emphasize is the influence of terroir on the final product. The soil here exerts a unique influence on the grapes grown across its chalky, sandy hills and acidic soil. Many people will be pleasantly surprised by the herbal, vegetal notes on both the nose and palate.
The René Rivière estate has been around the Borderies in various forms since 1886, holding over 200 years of history. What makes Héritage René Rivière so unusual (and so desirable) is that the land is no longer used to cultivate or harvest grapes to distil eaux-de-vie. Each and every Cognac produced has therefore been extracted from ancient demijohns, some of which have been hidden in the cellar for over 100 years.
Every René Rivière Cognac you purchase is a limited edition, a truly unique drinking experience that would take decades to recreate.
