This is the first bottle of cognac I have bought at a price over $250 and I am very happy with that decision. The nose is balanced and inviting, the taste is full and pleasing. The finish is fantastic, playing with my senses for minutes and is very satisfying. This bottle was, for me, a great introduction...
Great nose. Mashed raisins, prunes, peaches and custard, a touch of leather and a heap of tobacco. Maybe a trace of menthol too. On the palate the dark fruits are strong at first, sweet and juicy, but the tobacco quickly asserts itself with full intensity, drying and long. The endless finish holds...
This is a blend of Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Bons Bois from the years 1955/58/63. I have tasted it before, and I happen to own an older version of this. This cognac is rather dark. It is rich on the nose with elegant older mature darker tones. Here is wood and spices. In mouth it is super...
Dark amber. Complex nose on dried dates, figs, fine wood, rancio. On the palate oily, complex with sweetness of dried fruits, chocolate, toffee, fresh spices and a lot of wood. The finish is lingering on with notes of precious woods, spices and cacao. A very fine and complex cognac.
This review is based on a sample bottle. I have tried half of the sample when I received it and the other half after two weeks. Even in such a short amount of time, it has improved drastically in both the nose and palate. This cognac focuses on the wood and spices notes without being too dry. A...
The bottle itself and packaging is not impressive but it intentionally hints at age for the contents within. The color of this cognac is copper, gold and amber hue that dances. At the nose you will get tobacco, leather, flower and a faint hint of sea salt. On the pallet this cognac is really...
This is a blend of different Cru’s, and Vintages, with the most coming from 1961, and some from 1955 and 1969. A big nose initially, with some oak, spice, and tobacco. More oak and tobacco than usual in a well-aged Cognac. The palate is not quite as balanced as I had hoped for, and finishes with...
I have been following this cognac for many years and it does have the feel of an old cognac I haven't had this cognac in a long time. I think this is the Cognac brandy I drank with my father when I was a kid. The tobacco leaves are richly aromatic, followed by jasmine. The drink is really fascinating. After...
