Well-Matured and Indulgent: Martell Cordon Bleu Extra Cognac
Putting a twist on an old favorite, Martell Cordon Bleu Extra Cognac features some subtle differences setting it apart from its predecessor. While the standard Cordon Bleu is of an XO quality, this new model is an Extra Cognac, making it significantly older: the youngest blend of eaux-de-vie that went into this release is 30 years and the oldest close to 60 years. Whilst it still has a lot in common with the original Cordon Bleu blend - particularly, with its large proportion of Borderies eaux-de-vie and candied fruit aromas - this newer release delights with its depth and taste sensations, thanks to an outstanding maturation period.
The bottle and label also have a contemporary, 21st-century look, while still paying tribute to the original 1912 design and the classic elements we expect to see with any Martell expression. It’s definitely a lovely ‘extra’ offering that will be truly enjoyed by those who appreciate the intricacies of Cognac from the Borderies cru.
“The Cordon Bleu Extra is very elegant, subtle. It’s different. It’s meant to be sipped in leisure.”
Christophe Valtaud, Martell Cellar Master

Presentation of the Bottle
The bottle's elegant profile is typical of Martell, with its gently curved neck decorated with a ribbon. The navy blue label have been stamped with Jean Martell’s signature, while the neck of the bottle bears a blue medallion commemorating the year 1715 - the birth of the House of Martell. The stylish presentation box makes this a great gift for any Cognac lover.
How to Enjoy Martell Cordon Bleu
Mature, well-rounded, with a bouquet and flavors that evolve delightfully during the taste experience, this is a perfect Cognac to enjoy in the traditional manner - from a tulip glass, gently warmed in the hand and sipped as a digestif after a fine meal.

Delicious fruit flavors.
I first tried this as an impulse buy at CDG duty free shop on my way back to the states. It turned out to be a great find for me. Aromas start off with orange peel and other fruit. Very smooth and balanced. I also tried the white label Cordon Blue, but I prefer this one. I'm on my second bottle...
Cordon Bleu Extra
Already appreciate the classic Cordon Bleu for its own merits. But Cognac Experts had the new Extra (blue label) on a special promotional price, so I took the chance and ordered one. I shouldn't have doubted. Martell always makes an excellent product. I do think this new variant on the classic Codon...
