Eye: Bright gold, with orange hues.

Nose: Some sweet spices like cinnamon, beautifully blended with nuts and beeswax notes. Easily recognizable Fins Bois rancio slowly emerges from beneath the surface.

Palate: The Cognac wraps your tongue with an ample attack. The higher level of alcohol then offers a long and structured aftertaste of nuts and licorice.

Description

Vaudon Extra Carafe Fins Bois Cognac

A truly historic Cognac, this 40-year-old blend is a truly exceptional Cognac to enjoy. Produced with eaux-de-vie from the Fins Bois region, it's a brilliant example of all that this superb region has to offer. Double distilled and aged in Limousin new oak barrels, the end result is a wonderful medium toast Cognac. Offering a sweetly spiced entry, morphing into an ample attack and a structured closure, it’s a Cognac that demands attention from start to finish. Certainly, one for a connoisseur to appreciate.

The history and expertise of this Cognac are evident in its origins. Produced by a Cognac house dating back to 1771, Vaudon boasts impressive history and heritage. With many of today’s vineyards planted in the 20th century, Anne-Marie Vaudon and Pierre Vaudon are the custodians of this history and know-how. Boasting plenty of knowledge on what it takes to produce a truly exceptional Cognac, it comes as no surprise that such a wonderful house is behind a superb selection like the Vaudon Extra.

Presentation of the bottle

Sepia, with royal tones of red and gold, the heritage of this Cognac is immediately evident. An old-style label is a nod to its 40-year-old age and beautifully embodies all that a traditional Cognac should. In true Vaudon style, it’s stamped with sheer simplicity to let the Cognac speak for itself. Finished in a cardboard presentation box, boldly displaying the Vaudon branding for all to recognize, it is truly deserving of the front spot in a Cognac cabinet.

How to enjoy

As an Extra Cognac, this selection should be savored. Enjoy neat, with slow sips to allow its full depth to rise to the surface. Place with a drop of water, or ice to tease the subtle aromas and elongate the ample attack of flavor.

About Vaudon Cognac

The Vaudon grounds are composed of 60 hectares with the main estate being located in Fins Bois, the largest of all the Cognac growth regions. Vaudon produces both single cru Fins Bois Cognacs and ‘multicru’ blends of these with the neighbouring Grande Champagne.

Pierre Vaudon, Maître de Chai and also owner of Maison Francois Voyer, is responsible for the Vaudon family estate. The family’s distilling origins can be traced back as far as 1771, and they have always produced outstanding Cognacs, even winning a gold medal for their 1811 vintage Cognac in 1913.
