Description

St Rob Extra - Cognac as rich as its history

Aged for several decades in small Limousin oak barrels, the St Rob Cognac Extra has an exceptional persistence on the palate, owing to the humid environment of its legendary cellars. This masterful maturation gives the Extra-aged Cognac a deep, dark color and a wonderfully woody scent of oak on the nose.

The St Rob estate can be found on the grounds of a former abbey that was, until recently, in ruins. After the French revolution of 1789, many members of the nobility and aristocracy saw their lives change forever. The Saint Robert convent was a victim to this tragedy, the grounds themselves were famous thanks to the exquisite chapel, elegant farmhouse and mystical spring, which was said to have medicinal properties for those who drink from it.

As the centuries went by, the convent was destroyed and forgotten, destined to disappear forever. It was only when René-Luc Chabasse (of Chabasse Cognac fame), discovered this small hamlet, that he decided to purchase the historic 60-hectare estate.

Spreading over the Fins Bois and Borderies terroirs, Chabasse saw the estate's potential. Now an established and well-known Cognac brand, the estate has risen from the ashes (or ruins...) like a phoenix, which has become the Cognac house's logo, emblazoned on its bottles as a symbol of rebirth.

The flavors of its Cognacs are as rich as its history, with the domain making a name for itself amongst connoisseurs thanks to the elegant and balanced qualities that their blends boast.

How to Enjoy:

An extra-aged Cognac like this should be enjoyed neat, preferably in a snifter or a traditional tulip glass, so you can fully appreciate the fresh aromas of violets and cocoa that perfume your palate, as well as the distinct oaky aromas that can only develop thanks to the decades its spent patiently maturing in the historic cellars of the estate.

Presentation of the Bottle:

A dark and luxurious design of black and gold signals this Cognac as a rich and refined product for only the most particular palates. The tattoo-like, modern drawing of the phoenix featured on the neck, label and glass body of the bottle represents not only of the rebirth and renovation of the estate, but a symbol of strength, of savoir-faire and of the legendary status of this mythical and now iconic brand.

About St Rob Cognac

A cognac house that saw a 're-birth' thanks to the passion of one René-Luc Chabasse, the brand of St Rob is well represented by it's trademark phoenix - a logo that symbolises the re-birth of an estate that fell due to the French Revolution and the disposession of the rights of the nobility and clergy.
