Description

Martell L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Dragon Edition Cognac

In celebration of the Chinese Year of the Dragon 2024, Maison Martell honors its enduring bond with China through the Zodiac Edition of L’Or de Jean Martell. This extraordinary cognac, inspired by the most emblematic of zodiac animals, is a rare and prestigious offering, with fewer than 750 individually numbered pieces available.

Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud faced the intricate challenge of preserving the essence of L’Or de Jean Martell while enhancing and magnifying characteristics that embody the dragon's persona. This feat was achieved through the meticulous selection of venerable eaux-de-vie from various Dragon years, resulting in a masterpiece that balances intensity and elegance with warmth and generosity, mirroring the dragon's controlled yet benevolent power.

Presentation of the descanter

The decanter has a bold, spherical shape, symbolizing completeness and perfection, which craddles the rich, amber-colored cognac within. The body of the decanter is made from transparent glass, allowing the deep, warm tones of the cognac to be fully appreciated.

Atop the decanter sits an elaborate stopper featuring a fierce dragon, capturing the essence of the Zodiac Dragon. The dragon is intricately detailed, conveying power and nobility, traits often associated with this zodiac sign in Chinese culture.

The decanter's neck and the upper part are adorned with a golden collar, which adds a touch of elegance and luxury. This gold detailing extends to the base, which is not just a stand but a part of the whole design. The base resembles the scales of a dragon.

How to drink

This limited edition stands as a tribute not only to the legendary creature it represents but also to the mastery and tradition of Martell craftsmanship. It is a cognac that commands respect and offers an unparalleled tasting experience, encapsulating the immortal nature of the Chinese dragon in each golden drop.

About Martell Cognac

Martell is the oldest of the Big Four Cognac houses. Similar to Rémy Martin, but a few years older still, not long ago did Martell celebrate its 300-year anniversary. The history of Martell & Co dates back to 1715 when Jean Martell founded the company with the wish to produce only the highest quality in Cognac. With the legendary bottles Martell Cordon Bleu, the cuvée Martell Extra L’Or de Jean Martell and the recent Création Grand Extra from 2007, the company strongly implanted itself in the luxury goods market, and are famous for using large amounts of eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir. It belongs to Pernod Ricard and has sales of around 15 million liters every year. The most precious eaux-de-vie, some of which date back to 1830, are stored in a secret location in the cellars of Jean Martell - approximately 1.6 million 9-liter cases!
