Tasting review

Eye: Luminous amber topaz with striking golden highlights.

Nose: An elaborate bouquet of aromas with sharp citrus notes such as lemon and orange peel layered with scents of dark-red plums and indulgent nuances of dark chocolate and vanilla. The nose is rounded off with woody and spiced notes of curry paste, rancio and amber leather.

Palate: Rich and unctuous attack on the palate which then mellows to reveal brooding spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper alongside hints of apricot and orange marmalade. A sublime and lingering finish punctuated with toasted oak notes.

Description

Martell Grand Extra Création

Martell’s Création Grand Extra is a Cognac that is innovative in all aspects, a unique combination of eaux-de-vie from the premier cru of Grande Champagne and the most exclusive region of Borderies. A powerful and vibrant spirit that has been created using some of the oldest and most exquisite eaux-de-vie that Martell has to offer, it presents to us both the fresh and fruity notes characteristic of the Borderies, with the spiced personality of Grande Champagne. Aged for a minimum of 10 years in Martell’s cellars and packaged in a distinctive architectural design decanter, this is a Cognac that is a tribute to the creative spirit of Martell.

Presentation:

This unique and architectural decanter is inspired by Triumphal arches. Created by the acclaimed French designer Serge Mansau, it is a testament to the innovative spirit of Martell. This bold design may well end up as a classic.

How to enjoy:

Best served at room temperature, this is a Cognac that should be savoured and experienced neat.

Awards:

About Martell Cognac

Martell is the oldest of the Big Four Cognac houses. Similar to Rémy Martin, but a few years older still, not long ago did Martell celebrate its 300-year anniversary. The history of Martell & Co dates back to 1715 when Jean Martell founded the company with the wish to produce only the highest quality in Cognac. With the legendary bottles Martell Cordon Bleu, the cuvée Martell Extra L’Or de Jean Martell and the recent Création Grand Extra from 2007, the company strongly implanted itself in the luxury goods market, and are famous for using large amounts of eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir. It belongs to Pernod Ricard and has sales of around 15 million liters every year. The most precious eaux-de-vie, some of which date back to 1830, are stored in a secret location in the cellars of Jean Martell - approximately 1.6 million 9-liter cases!
