Description

Grands Domaines Extra Cognac: Flawless Class

The Grands Domaines range is composed of the pivotal blends created by the Cellar Master at the Domaines Francis Abécassis, and this is his pièce de résistance. For the Grands Domaines Extra Cognac, eaux-de-vie aged for a minimum of fifteen years have been selected and blended from a collection of lots from the Domaines Francis Abécassis cellars. The result is bold and rich, yet beautifully balanced - full of spice notes blended with wood and smoke.

Run by father and daughter team Francis and Elodie, this house produces only their single estate Cognac, with all steps of the process - growing, distillation, maturation, blending and bottling - controlled by the family. To enhance the characteristics of the terroir, each estate under their watchful eye has its own distillery and dedicated distiller that use specific and adapted methods of distillation. The Cellar Master meticulously selects eaux-de-vie with subtlety, bringing together different years, barrels and styles depending on the taste profile sought for each creation. Then he places the blend in large barrels for several months in the Blending Cellar. This additional time is particularly important to gently marry and harmonise the aromas, refining their elegance to achieve the desired radiance of the blend.

Presentation of the Bottle

‘Simplistic elegance’ summarizes this decanter beautifully. With its clean lines, unmarked glass, curved details and heavy chrome stopper, it would make a wonderful conversation piece in any collection. The label is tied around the neck with silver-toned silk ribbons, allowing the amber liquid inside the bottle to shine through the glass undisturbed. An additional stopper made of crystal accompanies the bottle, all presented in a stunning black lacquer box.

How to Enjoy Grands Domaines Extra Cognac

Sit back and relax; this is one to take your time with, perfect to end a meal or an evening with friends. Gently let the Cognac breathe in a tulip glass before taking a sip, tasting the unique qualities of the wonderful estate where it was crafted.
