Description
Fransac Extra Old Grande Champagne 50 Y. Cognac
Fransac Extra Old Grande Champagne 50 Y. Cognac is an exceptional expression crafted exclusively from eaux-de-vie originating from the prestigious Grande Champagne cru, the premier cru of the Cognac appellation. Presented in a 70cl format, this cognac reflects the expertise and heritage of Maison Fransac, combining elegance, maturity and aromatic complexity.
This remarkable blend is composed of very old eaux-de-vie that have matured for more than 50 years in oak barrels. Over the decades, the slow interaction between the spirit and the wood allows the cognac to develop remarkable depth, smoothness and aromatic richness.
The Grande Champagne terroir, known for its clay-limestone soils, produces eaux-de-vie renowned for their finesse and exceptional aging potential. These eaux-de-vie are naturally light and floral in their youth but gradually evolve toward complex and refined profiles after long maturation.
The result is a cognac that combines softness and roundness with impressive aromatic intensity. Each component of the blend has been carefully selected and aged in the house's historic cellars, where time has allowed the spirit to reach its full maturity.
On the nose, Fransac Extra Old Grande Champagne 50 Y. Cognac reveals elegant aromas of vanilla, cinnamon and toasted almond. Subtle floral notes and hints of candied fruits add additional complexity.
On the palate, the cognac is smooth, round and perfectly balanced. The initial notes of vanilla and almond evolve toward gentle spices and delicate sweetness, while long aging contributes refined oak nuances.
The finish is long and harmonious, revealing the classic rancio Charentais that characterizes very old Cognacs. This lingering complexity offers notes of dried fruits, spice and noble wood.

A Beautifully Mature 50-Year-Old with Exotic Fruit and Silky Texture
This 50-year-old is a very elegant and mature cognac, while still keeping a surprisingly vivid fruit profile. On the nose, it clearly shows its age, but not through heavy oak or dominant spice. Instead, it moves into that more exotic Grande Champagne direction, with notes that remind me of mango,...
