De Luze Extra Delight is a single barrel finished Cognac, blended with eaux-de-vie made from grapes grown at Domaine Boinaud and distilled on the lees at the Boinaud family’s own distillery. The Boinaud philosophy is intrinsically bound to three guiding principles: First of all, nothing is taken away - only unfiltered wines are distilled. Secondly, they age well beyond the legal minimum, to enhance the full Cognac experience. And finally, they add nothing except for pure water from their 270-meter deep well on the estate.
The House of De Luze in came into existence through an international set-up in the 19th century. In 1817, brothers Alfred and Louis-Philippe De Luze took off to New York to build up business relations in America, and soon established a shop. However, they realized that it would be more productive if one of them actually was based in the Cognac region in order to manage trade and exports. Alfred therefore returned to Bordeaux, where he founded Maison De Luze & Fils with his sons, dealing in Bordeaux wine and Cognac which could then be distributed via his brother's agency in New York. Over the next century, the company continued to expand trade, establishing a strong European network.
In 2006, the brand was purchased by the Boinaud family, one of the oldest and most respected Cognac producing families of the appellation. With their estate, as well as Cognac's biggest private distillery (including 41 pot stills). Judging by this incredible release, the new owners are sure to take De Luze to new heights.

This cognac is absolutely stunning! Such a deep, rich aftertaste.. dark fruits, wow. Very fine champagne - ish, this blend can compete with the big boys (Hennessy & co) any day. Just the price is a bit high but justified I guess.
The cognac house has a uniquely interesting history, with the origins of the company in New York! Two brothers set off to find success in the New World in the early 19th century. And they did. De Luze is still a successful business with 410 hectares of vineyards in the prime growing area of Cognac. Their philosophy is to create a natural cognac with an elegant and light taste and colour.
