Description
Chateau de Montifaud Extra Cognac is a blend of eaux-de-vie from the growing region of Petite Champagne. The youngest component of this 'extra' cognac is 6 years old, and the presence of rancio proves wonderfully that its blends have been masterfully matured in old oak barrels at Chateau de Montifaud. Aromas of dried fruits tease your senses, especially those of grilled almonds. Meanwhile, spices are also apparent, and there is a flavourful finish as aromas linger lustfully on the palette.
As a well aged cognac, this brandy is often bought with intent to impress guests and will always be well received - even at the most luxurious occasions.
Due to the chalky land content and prominent limestone in the Petit Champagne region, high quality eaux-de-vie is almost certainly guaranteed from the likes of Chateau de Montifaud and cognac houses in this terroir. If you've not yet heard of Chateau de Montifaud, a bottle of cognac extra is the ideal place to begin your journey into this typically traditional, family-run cognac house.
Presentation of the bottle
With its elegantly square design and golden embellishment - the presentation of Chateau de Montifaud Extra Cognac could be mistaken for a large perfume of cologne bottle. As a result, the bottle is ambiguously feminine (perhaps to attract female drinkers) and it oozes glamour and expensive taste.
How to enjoy
As aromas of dried fruits prevail through this cognac, pair with a pure, dark chocolate as the sweet and bitter aromas of the chocolate will particularly compliment the candied spicy notes of the cognac. Alternatively, cognacs that have been aged for a long time like Chateau de Montifaud Extra can be enjoyed with the bold flavours of strong cheeses such as; Roquefort.

Excellent Cognac
Chateau de Montifaud Extra is a blend of 100% Petite Champagne, and yielded only 988 bottles. Lovely fruit and floral notes lead the way, with some spice appearing after a few minutes. Possibly some light rancio as well, indicating some older cognac in the blend. The palate delivers on the nose, with...
About Château de Montifaud
Owned by the family Vallet for six generations, Chateau de Montifaud Cognac boasts 125 hectares of vineyards that are located in both the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne growing regions. The house produces a large, high quality range of cognacs – including various vintages from years that have had an exceptional harvest. One family tradition that Cognac Chateau Montifaud is proud to follow, is that of when a new baby boy is born to the head of the cognac house, that part of the cognac created from that year’s harvest is set to one side. This is kept for a varying number of years, but may only be sold by future generations.
