Maison Rouge VSOP Cognac is an expression crafted under the expertise of Maison Hardy, a distinguished producer with a history in the Cognac region of France. Maison Hardy, established in 1863, brings generations of experience to the creation of spirits like Maison Rouge. This VSOP offering represents a significant category in Cognac, known for its balance and approachability, reflecting the heritage of its producer.
This Cognac is a blend of eaux-de-vie sourced from several recognized crus within the Cognac region, predominantly Fins Bois (70%), complemented by Bon Bois (20%), and Petite Champagne (10%). The grapes, primarily Ugni Blanc, are twice distilled in traditional Charentais copper pot stills, a method central to Cognac production. To earn the VSOP designation, the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend must be aged for a minimum of four years in French oak barrels. Maison Rouge VSOP, however, matures for an average of eight years, with its blend aged between six to ten years, utilizing a double aging process in both new and old oak barrels to develop its profile.
This non-vintage Cognac is presented in a 750ml bottle, with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40%.
Maison Rouge VSOP Cognac offers versatility in its enjoyment. It can be appreciated neat to savor its characteristics, or served on the rocks for a cooled experience. This Cognac also serves as a suitable base for various cocktails, adding depth to classic drinks such as a Sidecar or Mai Tai.
