Description
I Can See Clearly Now: Chainier Eau de Vie de Vin
This white brandy is crafted exactly the same way as Cognac: using the same grapes, same vinification process and same distillation, but with one significant difference: it hasn't been aged in oak casks. The Chainier Eau de Vie de Vin is a pure eau-de-vie, bottled without any of the wood tannins and complex notes that it would have developed in a cask. The result is a clear eau-de-vie with a youthful, vegetal and fruity character, perfect for mixed drinks or as an accompaniment to cold seafood dishes and hors d'oeuvres.
The Chainier family, originally from the Petite Champagne region, have been making Cognac and Pineau de Charentes for generations. It was in 1970 that Guy Chainier and his son Dominique began to work together on a range of Cognacs, and in the 1980s Dominique Chainier took over the family property in Arthenac to develop the retail side of the business. Branching out from the smaller of the two Champagne regions, the family purchased an 18-hectare vineyard in Grande Champagne, expanding their product potential significantly.
Fiercely independent, the family continue marketing their own products today, with Dominique Chainier and his grandson Clément reaching people around the world through their website as well as numerous trade fairs.
Presentation of the Bottle
The Chainier Eau de Vie de Vin comes in a tall, straight bottle, a classic style which was originally popular in the 19th century. The understated label features the Chainier emblem and the bottle is sealed with silver foil on the neck.
How to Enjoy Chainier Eau de Vie de Vin
This unaged expression is a great ingredient for cocktails or to simply drink on ice with soda water and a slice of lemon. The producer recommends trying it chilled with caviar, oysters or smoked fish, or as a long drink with tonic.
About Chainier Cognac
For generations, the Chainier family has been producing Cognac in both of the Champagne terroirs in Cognac. The current estate consists of a familial vineyard in the town of Arthenac and an 18-hectare estate in Lignières-Sonneville, both acquired by Dominique Chainier in the 1980s. Maintaining control of their production as well as their branding and marketing, the family produce a high-quality range of traditional Cognac as well as Pineau de Charentes, which they have been making since 1966.
