Eye: Deep, dark amber.

Nose: A lovely toasted oak on the nose with subtle notes of vanilla and spice.

Palate: Smooth and light on the palate. The aromatic characteristics of this Cognac evolve further in the mouth with many layers of vanilla, a prevalence of spices and a touch of tannin. The finish is long and satisfying.

Beschreibung

Daniel Bouju VSOP Cogac

Daniel Bouju VSOP is an exceptional 10 year old Cognac that has been created purely from eaux-de-vie from the superior cru of the region, Grande Champagne.

This is a complex Cognac, full of powerful character and produced by the renowned artisanal Cognac house of Daniel Bouju, which is situated in Charente in the Grande Champagne region. The House uses Ugni Blanc grapes for its Cognac which it harvests, distills and ages exclusively on the estate. Daniel Bouju VSOP Cognac is allowed to mature in new Limousin oak barrels which are medium grained and bless the spirit with its strong vanilla characteristics and touch of tannin.

Daniel Bouju is a well regarded producer of high quality Cognacs, it focuses on creating a diverse range of artisan Cognacs that can be found in over 40 countries around the world. As both the grower and the distiller, Daniel Bouju retains complete control of the production process and handles every step from the vineyard to the bottle.

The small, family-owned Cognac house was first established in 1805 and has proudly maintained traditional craftsmanship and strict standards in its production through the generations. Daniel Bouju VSOP is a prime example of the connoisseur standard Cognac that the independent House has been delivering for centuries.

Presentation of the bottle:

A classic and understated bottle that points attention to the elegant label design. Gold stylised font decoratively entwines the Daniel Bouju logo, which sits above the House’s majestic emblem.

How to enjoy:

Daniel Bouju VSOP would make an excellent pairing with caviar, due to the caviar’s saltiness being perfectly balanced by the natural sweetness of the Cognac.

Quite smooth

I tasted this VSOP in a blind tasting, together with 7 other VSOPs. This Grande Champagne blend came in on 2nd position. I noted that the after taste is pretty smooth.

Very nice with lovely nose. Long and satisfying finish.

This is an excellent tasting experience! The nose is light, slightly sweet, with the aroma of ripening pears, green apples, and an undertone of vanilla. The taste is very full and explodes in the mouth; complex, but with the underlying vanilla hints being dominant. Perhaps a spiciness hints of cloves. Very little oak. The finish is long and satisfying, again with vanilla but with a hint of oak coming through here. The finish lasts several minutes, longer than Courvoisier VSOP. This is an excellent companion with a good freshly brewed coffee. Definitely an upscale Cognac, in spite of the very reasonable price.
