A Petite Champagne Vintage from 1986
For many years, the Charentais have enjoyed their Cognacs straight from the barrel and have appreciated the art of a fine Vintage Cognac. The Prunier 1986 Petite Champagne Vintage Cognac is an expression of the 1986 harvest at natural cask strength after being aged in oak barrels. Bottled in February 2017, this is one of Prunier’s best examples of a fine Millésime 1986 Cognac. Available in small quantities, this is Cognac in its purest and most natural art form.
The Petite Champagne cru is characterized by its chalky soil and unique maritime climate, and makes up 130,000 acres of the Cognac region. Cognacs from this region typically take longer to age, but are certainly worth the wait. The long maturation makes for complex spirits that linger in the mouth. 85 million years ago, the area was more or less the corner of the Atlantic seabed when sea levels were at their high levels. The millions of fossils and seashells were deposited in the area and formed part of the Santonian era.
