This mature Grande Champagne Cognac has been described by its maker as 'an elegant fruit bomb', and upon the first sip, it’s evident why. Medium-bodied and fantastically complex, the Guillon-Painturaud Vieille Reserve Cognac comes from respected single estate producers Guillon Painturaud, located in Segonzac. Feminine and delicate, with approachable, ripe raisin and fig flavours, this is an expression that is sure to please Cognac connoisseurs and beginners alike. Unusually, the eaux-de-vie used for Guillon Painturaud Vieille Reserve are blended from a single undeclared vintage year and aged for at least 20 years before bottling.
Considering its age and Premier Cru provenance, this bottle is simply unbeatable in value for money and would make a great gift for any Cognac lover.
The square sides of the decanter are almost reminiscent of a fine cologne, or a vintage bottle of ‘Chanel No.5’. The molded glass and antique-style label give the impression of classic elegance, topped with a stopper of natural wood. The Cognac house of Guillon-Painturaud has a history that can be traced back to the early seventeenth century, and covers 18 hectares of prime Premier Cru terrain. A traditionally run, artisan producer, the house produces a range of cognacs that are both affordable and will appeal to all levels of cognac drinker. They grow solely the Ugni Blanc grape, which they use to create their Cognacs and Pineau des Charentes. All of the process of Cognac production is carried out at the family farm, from the tending of the land and growing the fruits, through the distillation, aging, blending and bottling.
