A Well Balanced Pineau Des Charentes Vieux Blanc

Pineau Des Charentes is a fortified wine specific to the Charente region and the Raymond Bossis Pineau Vieux Blanc is a wonderful example. It has been made from a blend of 2002 and 2009 Ugni Blanc harvests and the family has taken great care to select only the best of their produce to create this Pineau. Once the grapes are harvested, Cognac eau-de-vie is added to the slightly fermented must and the blend is left to mature.

It has been aged for at least four years in French oak casks, giving it the VSOP or Vieux denomination and allowing for the more unusual flavors of nuts to come to the fore. The tastes are beautifully well balanced.

Operating from the Domaine des Groies in the Cognac region, year upon year Raymond Bossis carefully takes into account the climatic variables which might affect vine growth. They have a profound respect for the environment, and practice responsible farming methods to minimize the impact of pesticides on grapes, and therefore on wines.

They are also members of the Federation of Independent Winegrowers, which guarantees the involvement of the winegrower at all stages of production, winemaking, cellar work, and marketing.

They work using traditional technologies and sustainable farming to minimize the impact of pesticides on their grapes and eaux-de-vie, according to Optimus protocol. As members of the Federation of Independent Winegrowers, they guarantee the involvement of the winemaker at all stages of production: from winemaking, in the cellar, harvesting the grapes and marketing.

The estate offers a wide range of products ranging from natural grape juice to Cognacs of varying age categories. These include Pineau des Charentes, Charentais wines and sparkling wines produced using traditional methods.
