Dark and stormy A29 Grosperrin

I like to think that most grosperrin has an identity that I can spot despite the many producers that all create different cognacs. For Grosperrin to me it is that yellow stone fruit, think of peaches and a touch of honey. Often mixed with a good touch of flowers. They always have just enough of an oak presence that the sweeter notes are never overpowering. This is to me the definition of elegance in a glass.
Now we come to A29, as suggested this is among the first of many casks selected by Grosperrin. And this one is a bit different than the others that i have tasted. This one leans much more into the dark and stormy tasting notes with the typical identity in tact it is also married with some dark and slightly spicy mexican chocolat. The rancio for me is much darker and this one requires extreme time in the glass to open up, just a few minutes is not enough! There is a lot to taste here and it is a little bit rambunctious. This is not your calm and quiet cognac. Maybe its from sitting with pigs for so long they rubbed off on it.
This is a cognac you will not forget it leaves a lasting impression.

Don’t just swallow it down; allow the liquid to touch all the regions of the mouth. Doing this is necessary as the taste buds pick up contrasting flavours in the different areas of the mouth; on the tip of your tongue to the sides, for example. Take a tiny sip to prep your palate for the sensory experience to come. Take a second larger sip, and gently roll the cognac around, etting it come into contact with every corner of your mouth. Focus on the perceived textural sensations. Are the sensations round and rich or fresh and elegant? Is the overall mouthfeel intense, balanced, disjointed, or lacking presence? In short, how does the cognac feel in your mouth?
