Beschreibung
The Guillon-Painturaud Renaissance Cognac is a truly exquisite creation by this single estate house. Every eaux-de-vie that's gone into making this cognac is aged for around 40 years - and is exclusively from the Grande Champagne terroir.
A deep copper color, as one would expect from a cognac of this age, this is one to take time to linger over - perhaps when enjoying good conversations with the best of friends. It offers remarkable value for money for a cognac of this age.
Deep copper/henna in color; sediment-free. Nutmeat, dried fruits, old leather, and toasted almond scents abound in the opening stages on the nose; the mature bouquet turns deeper, fruitier, and confectionery-like in the second wave of sniffing after aeration; truly seductive.
To start the palate is sweetish, caramel-like, full weighted, and chewy; mid-palate offers fathomless tastes of candied walnut, brown sugar, fruit pastry, mince meat, and baked spiced pear.
The finish is assertive and generously spiced.

Divine nectar
It’s always hard to convey the complexity of a great aged cognac. The nose is intense and sweet. Ripe dried fruit, raisin, almost a berry note. Toffee, leather, rancio. Toasted almond, marzipan. Dried herb, fenugreek. Fine delicate leather. Color: deep dark amber Taste: Sweet, supple, velvety....
Excellent cognac.
The aroma is multifaceted and powerful enough. Soft, enveloping taste, without alcoholic burning. Low sweetness with noticeable astringency. The aftertaste is long lasting. Cognac disposes to a pleasant long conversation with friends. In my opinion, it does not need any additions.
Über Guillon Painturaud Cognac
The Cognac house of Guillon-Painturaud has a history that can be traced back to the early seventeenth century, and covers 18 hectares of prime Premier Cru terrain. A traditionally run, artisan producer, the house produces a range of cognacs that are both affordable and will appeal to all levels of cognac drinker. They grow solely the Ugni Blanc grape, which they use to create their Cognacs and Pineau des Charentes. All of the process of Cognac production is carried out at the family farm, from the tending of the land and growing the fruits, through the distillation, aging, blending and bottling.
