A Fine Champagne Viking Ship Black Cognac
As far as Cognacs go, this has to be one of the most incredibly unique decanters available. The Larsen Viking Black Cognac 70cl is the perfect collector’s item or gift, in a ship shaped decanter from the Larsen house made of prestigious Porcelaine de Limoges. Hand-painted in glass with 24-carat gold by artisan craftsmen, it is one of the most decorative and interesting Cognac decanters available.
Within you will find a Fine Champagne blend, serving the same assemblage of eaux-de-vie since the decanter was first introduced in 1952. The Grande and Petite Champagne are the most coveted of terroirs in the Cognac region, thanks to their reputation of producing the finest of eaux-de-vie. In fact, this region is home to one of the most geologically unique climates on earth. Its maritime climate alongside the high chalk content of its soil means that the grapes that grow here produce light, floral eaux-de-vie, such as that of the Larsen Viking Black.
The Larsen story
It is only fitting that the Viking Black Cognac should be in the shape of a ship. Jens Reidar Larsen set out to the Americas aged 24, eager to explore the world, but a stopover in Bordeaux seemingly changed the course of his path and destiny. He found a job in a town famous for its eaux-de-vie, and subsequently fell in love with a local girl. His new adventure began in the town of Cognac. He learned the secrets of the cellar masters and explored the treasures of eaux-de-vie, creating Larsen Cognac in 1926.
How to enjoy
This Cognac represents adventure and new discoveries, and is best enjoyed with a small group of your closest friends. Enjoy it neat to explore the Fine Champagne blend.
The ship decanter is truly like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Adorned in black and gold, the stopper is a flag denoting the word “Invincible”, and below are a number of crests. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
About Larsen Cognac
Known as ‘The Cognac of Vikings,’ Larsen Cognac has striven to produce and offer products of high quality at selected points of sale throughout the world.
A family run concern, the story of Cognac Larsen dates back to 1926 when Jens Reidar Larsen made the move from his home country of Norway to France. Seduced by the quality of the brandy that came from the town of Cognac, he devoted much time and effort to become a connoisseur in the subject, and naturally progressed to owning and running his own Cognac house.
Today, Larsen Cognacs are as well known for their luxury packaging as the quality of their eaux-de-vie, with Limoges Porcelain and Baccarat Crystal featuring strongly with many of their premium Cognacs.
