Description
Prunier Vintage "Lucky" Tasting Set Cognac
The Prunier Vintage "Lucky" Tasting Set Cognac features a trio of unblended single harvest Cognacs, each representing a decade in the Fine Champagne region. Unlike larger Cognac houses, Maison Prunier do not grow their own grapes; they specialize in buying eaux-de-vie directly from growers and distillers. This way they can select the most exceptional and unusual vintages to age in their humid cellars by the river Charente.
With this simple but stunning selection of rare vintages, we can catch a glimpse of harvests gone by, starting with 1968, followed by 1978 and then 1988. It is rare to come across Cognacs of this age made available in a tasting selection, so grab this limited edition while you can.
Tasting Notes
1968 Petite Champagne: Entirely natural bright pale gold hue. Aromas of acacia, black tea leaves, tobacco and vanilla dominate the nose, followed by a sweet and floral palate and lingering finish.
1978 Grande Champagne: Deep golden, this shows aromas of honey, wax, leather and nutmeg. The spicy palate is balanced with a certain finesse and a lengthy finish.
1988 Grande Champagne: Golden brown with aromas of Lebanon cedar, hazelnut, orange, liquorice and toffee. The palate is light and complex with toasted nuts and distinct notes of dried fruit.
Presentation of the Set
This unique set of vintages are presented in 10cl apothecary-style bottles, perfectly finished off with authentic labels and cork stoppers. They come in a quirky leather carrying case, making it a great present for anyone who enjoys the finer things in life.
Try each vintage separately, or get the tulip glasses out, line them up and compare each decade in turn.
