Pitaud Cognac

Pitaud Cognac

Cognac Pitaud has a history dating back to the late 1800s, with a business ethic of creating cognacs that are not mass marketed and that appeal to the cognac connoisseur. The brand’s founder – Albert Pitaud – produced eaux-de-vie from his estate in the Petite Champagne region. Today, Cognac Pitaud is known for producing a range of top quality cognacs presented in beautiful bottles and decanters that are themselves a work of art.

History of Cognac Pitaud

Born in 1882, Albert Pitaud was a cognac producer who owned a stunning estate, La Garnerie, in the Petite Champagne region of Cognac. Here, he lovingly created eaux-de-vie of an outstanding quality until World War One, when he was called into military service for his country. Unwilling to leave his creations, he carefully buried his cognacs in a secret location on the estate, safe in the knowledge that they were being stored in the manner to allow them to survive until he was able to return.

After the war he returned to his estate to continue with his work, finding all the buried cognac still in place. Albert died in 1968 leaving his legacy of exceptionally aged and high quality cognacs. His know-how has been passed on through the generations, along with the eaux-de-vie that dates back to 1914.

Albert’s military booklet from World War I is also celebrated as part of the history of the brand. The cases, labels and boxes of all the company’s cognacs are based around this booklet – an individual and unique way of remembering the important part he played in the history of this cognac house.

Pitaud Cognac Today

Today, Pitaud Cognac is renowned for producing exceptional cognacs. They range from a VS upwards, but each cognac created by Pitaud has at least one symbolical drop of what is known as ‘Cognac Albert Pitaud,’ the house’s premier product dating from around 1914, which makes it almost 100 years old.

Sought out by both amateurs and connoisseurs throughout the world, Cognac Pitaud is particularly well known in Germany, USA, Russia, China and Italy. Whilst their traditions and cognacs remain faithful to tradition, the company itself is forward thinking and embraces the very latest in modern technology.

Using the power of social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, the brand of Cognac Pitaud reaches out to younger cognac enthusiasts throughout the world with its range of blends and vintage eaux-de-vie.
