Mestreau Cognac

Mestreau Cognac

Founded in 1808, Frédéric Mestreau is an important brand in the world of Cognac. It, unfortunately, as many do, fell by the wayside in 1919 and has since remained dormant. All that has changed in recent years, thanks to a recent purchase of Cognac Mestreau made by Guilhem Grosperrin, a man who is well versed in buying older, rare bottles from the most remote of corners in the region, and reselling them to Cognac lovers everywhere.

The rebirth of Frédéric Mestreau Cognac in the 21st century

Guilhem Grosperrin has made the move to resurrect one of the old greats of the Cognac world - Mestreau Cognac. Approached by a broker in 2010, he was confronted with the opportunity to purchase 250 bottles of early nineteenth-century Cognacs from the personal collection of Abel Mestreau.

With permission, he now sells precious old Cognacs under the brand of Frédéric Mestreau.

Having moved his house to the town of Saintes, the house has moved from employing two people to now eight. The town of Saintes, located a little outside of Cognac will be reinvigorated with the aromas of eaux-de-vie once more - with older, forgotten Cognacs making their way to the market for tasting.

It is indeed possible to visit Mestreau Cognac, where visitors can explore the collection of old Cognacs for themselves.
