La Distillerie Generale

La Distillerie Generale

A collaboration between the finest experts in the spirits industry, The Distillerie Générale merge generations of savoir-faire from bigger brands such as Martell Cognac and Chivas Whisky with the contemporary creative streak of “small batch” production. Owned by Pernod Ricard, the possibilities and resources are endless when it comes to distillation, blending and design. The exclusive spirits line includes Cognac, Gentian, wormwood, vodka, gin, Armagnac, rum, mezcal, whiskey and tequila; each of which is presented in a bespoke 35cl or 50cl bottle with an embroidered fabric label designed by Paul-Bertrand Mathieu and Louis-Marie de Castelbajac. For the first time, consumers can enjoy the most precious and exceptional Cognacs in an accessible and stylish manner.

The Distillerie Generale Story

A collection of distillers from the Pernod-Ricard portfolio, each spirit brings something new to the table. For example, their gin is a new expression of the London Dry created with the Master Distiller of Beefeater Gin, Desmond Payne. Similarly, each spirit has a unique cask selection, such as the six whiskeys available. Blended by Chivas Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop, the brand showcases a full variety of Scotch whiskey. The Master Blenders behind their Cognacs are Christophe Valtaud, Master Blender of Martell, and Pascal Cibrot, who has worked tirelessly since 1980 to create the most spectacular assemblages for a new collection.

The success of this new brand is also thanks to the expertise of Thierry Daniel and Eric Fossard of Liquid Liquid; both of which founded the Spirits Salon Cocktails and Paris Cocktail Week.

La Distillerie Generale Prices

The bottles range from 30 to 120 euros, depending on the size, spirit, and age.

Bottle Design

The graphic element of La Distillerie Generale is of paramount importance.

Designers Paul-Bertrand Mathieu and Louis-Marie de Castelbajac have added a fresh spin on branding, and have successfully merged both contemporary and traditional elements to create a series of fabric labels.

Each one is hand-embroidered and are issued by the same workshops as the insignias for the Royal Navy uniform.
